I had a few drinks last night, well more than a few about 8, I was fine at the time, no anxiety or depression, infact I felt on top of the world. However today I feel really really low. I was ok when I got up, but gradually I have become really depressed, On the virge of crying, and now the anxiety has come back. Does this happen to you? Have you any advice?

If you are experiencing anxiety or depression - don't drink- period. The alcohol will intensify threefold any depression and or anxiety you may already be experiencing, and can even be the cause of it by the next day.

dj417002, I am sorry you are feeling that way, "been there done that"... however, I must tell you that alcohol is a depressant. I have to admit that I self medicated with alcohol for YEARS! It gave me a TEMPORARY "feeling" of "On top of the world" or invincible, if you will. I drank for the purpose of relieving anxiety/depression.. I have discovered that drinking was actually increasing anxiety and depression. My suggestion to you is STOP! There is a chapter in the program book as well as a forum on this site that talks specifically about this. You're NOT alone in this, alot of us have resorted to this type of behavior(to relieve anxiety, etc)

God bless you
