I was talking to my dad the other day and he gave me a good analogy for anxiety.

He said anxiety is like a bully in school. The more you let it tease you the more it'll come around. But if you stand up to the bully the less he'll start to bother you and eventually he'll go away all together. Sure he might come around once in awhile just to see if he can get you again, but once he sees your still not afraid, he'll go away.

People have a terrible time understanding anxiety, but this a is great example of how it works for the average person/nonsufferer to understand. Give your dad a big hug for me! I'm using this today.

People really don't understand anxiety. People in my family are baffled, amused, angered and everything that is not understanding. My brother thinks that I am making up a condition to manipulate his feelings and has called me a liar, conceited and a few other things as well. I'm sure that he has a bunch of problems of his own that he isn't addressing, but I don't need them distracting me from recognizing and fixing mine.

Another good one is called "The Panic Monster".

Sunset...that side view was the best! It's not as big as we make it out to be. Good visual :)
