I tend to procrastinate a lot and since I'm in a PhD program working on a dissertation, that is not good. It's actually killing me and when I do force myself to start working, I feel SOOO much better. Except that thoughts of discouragement sometimes overtake and then I can't work several days in a row. Anyway, I wanted to share a little thing that seems to be working for me. I set a countdown on my computer for 1hr and tell myself: you only have to work for one hour. Then I take a break and do the same thing. I manage to get 4 hours of uninterrupted and focused work time this way on good day. Of course there are still bad days...but this is progress. So to all procrastinators: give it a shot, it's simple and it can work and make you feel better.
