I was taking a nap because I am sick with a virus and woke up in such a panic that it took a few minutes for me to get my bearings. Anyone else get this? I take meds but I still have a problem when I wake up and nap with my anxiety. Any suggestions?

Do you think it's a matter of being disoriented? Or maybe feeling like you missed something while you were asleep or forgot something?
Since you're already lying down when this happens, I'd try the relaxation techniques...breathing especially to calm yourself.
Hope that this gets better and that you recover from the virus quickly!
Best,

I have noticed that I frequently wake up with anxiety symptoms after a quick nap. I believe this happens because I am not falling into restorative sleep in this small amount of time, and I wake up feeling somewhat disorientated. In addition, sleeping during daylight hours also disturbs me because there is still so much stimulus around. Even if you shut the lights, some still comes through and you awake thinking that you should not be asleep at this time. This just happened to me the other day, and I awoke with my heart pounding and I was wondering what was going on. The television was loud and it had startled me even though I was initially able to fall asleep to the sound of it. Hang in there- you will feel better I am sure.
