I was around a bunch of people this weekend and a few of them were sick. (....why they didn't stay home, I have no idea...). I woke up this morning with a huge headache and I'm pretty stuffed up. We're slow at work now, so I decided to take today off. I called in this morning and a co-worker answered and I told him to let our boss know I wouldn't be in today. He paused for a moment and breathed deeply and said "fine" kind of sarcastically. NOW I feel guilty for taking today off !!! I'm on week 4 now (expecatations). I can't seem to shake this guilt.

I know I don't like it when people come into work and spread the flu or whatever around.....why should I ????

Hi manofmusic,
You know I think most of us feel guilt over everything we do or don't do and it is a very difficult thing to overcome because we are very dedicated people and feel we owe our best to everything we do. I think it was an unselfish act you did...not wanting to spread the germs so be kind to yourself and tell yourself you did a good, caring act of kindness both to your co-workers and yourself. Everyone gets sick, you didn't do anything wrong so stop beating yourself up over something innocent. Stay in bed, watch a movie, rest up and get feeling better. You need to worry about yourself and that's just fine!!!!
Well Wishes for a speedy recovery.

Having worked in an office for years with several negative people, I've seen your co-worker. LOL
Call and speak to the boss. It will make sure the message, your real message got to the boss without the snarky attitude of the co-worker.
And you will feel better having explained why you stayed home. The boss will thank you and you can get some rest!
Chicken soup. You know what they say? It's can't hurt!
Hoping you feel better soon,
Lea

No problems at work today !!!!!! I fought through 2 attacks, but they only lasted about 5 minutes each. All of the bosses were in an excellent mood too !
