I feel that I am so close to victory I can just taste it. I was on antidepressants and benzo's for 15 or so years. I began a slow taper and for seven months have been med free, with the exception of a xanax once or twice from my grandmother in that time.
I would love to hear from all of you that have once been on meds like me and that have gone through the program successfully and remain med free today. Anyone? Would be so appreciative if you would share, thank you and God Bless, pinkee

Hi Pinkeetoz,
I can not share anything but I have checked your posts, I also checked to Xanax at: <A HREF="

That stuff really seems nasty from what I read there. No thanks. One of the cautions on there is about weening and intermitent useage, like you mention. I would seem to me that you would be better off staying off it all together, if you have already gotten there.
But I have to repeat, those are some really nasty side effects indicated.
TC Pinkee, and hugs-

I stopped the xanax I was taking a year ago when I started the program and also the small amt.of Prozac I was taking periodically. I haven't needed or taken any since. I've had some pretty stressful times since the stock market crash but still haven't resorted to any of the meds. When I didn't have all of these skills from the program that I have integrated into my life now the Xanax actually did help me, but now I see I don't really need them. Also- for some reason I had no problem in stopping the Xanax.

Great question, Pinkee. I want to get off of xanax and lexapro. How long did it take you to taper off?

Pinkee.
I never went on meds, but from what I've read, it can sometimes be a struugle to get off of them completely. You can do this !

I chose never to get on meds because that was part of my anxiety (taking pills) along with many other fears and I am so happy to say that I have gotten better without them. I just heard too many stories about side effects and withdrawl. At one point my anxiety was really really bad. I felt I had to be distracted 24/7 and couldnt relax. If I were to relax I would have a panic attack. Well I can now hang out in my sons room and watch a funny cartoon or sit on here and chat with you. I even slept until 10 the other day. I am really happy and proud how far I have come. I still have bad days but I do have resources now.
