I was going to the store today and saw an elderly woman (nineties for sure) in a wheel chair coming out of the store with a few bags of groceries tied to the back of her wheel chair trying to get across the street and over to the sidewalk. It was 104 degrees here at 11:30AM and this woman had no hat on or sun umbrella or anything and she was struggling to get the wheel chair across the street. There was no shade anywhere. I stopped my car and got out and pushed her the rest of the way. I told her she needed a hat or umbrella or something and she says "Thank you for your concern but I'm a tough old lady and I do this all the time." She was waiting for the trolley with the wheel chair lift to take her back to her house. I went and did an errand and then drove back to see if she was still there and if she had been I was going to some how figure a way to get the wheel chair in my car and drive her home but the trolley had just picked her up. Anyway - when I got home and thought about some of the inconveniences I complain about and sometimes feel sorry for myself over- I truly saw how trivial and unimportant some of my stuff is. This woman functions like this every day and all she could say was "Don't worry about me I'm Ok, I'm a tough old lady." I believe she was.
