Not that I would wish this on anyone even my worst enemy but when I read in the paper this morning that the actress Heather Locklear was being treated for anxiety & depression I was a little relieved. As much as I hate to admit it as we all have witnessed in our society today the more the celebs are affected it seems more people pay attention and begin to understand. Actually that is the media's fault for only being interested in that sector of society but I'm looking at this as a plus for all of us and hoping anxiety and depression won't be something to be kept secret for much longer.

I also saw this... and although I am with you on the never wishing this on anyone, I hope it brings awareness to people. This is real, and soooo many people suffer silently. I am happy for her taking the steps to recover and I hope that not only she makes a full recovery but also that her coming out and seeking treatment sheds some light on the reality of anxiety and depression

I, too, feel for Heather and would love to send her a word of encouragement. It has to be difficult to have your illness play out in the public eye. It's embarassing enough for me for my friends and family to know. That's why I put up a front, sweep it under the rug, then cry in private. Not a good thing, I know.
I did find a lot of encouragement in Brooke Shield's book and was glad she used her experience to reach out to others.

My heart goes out to her. I can not begin to imagine what it would be like to deal with anxiety and depression while under the watchful eye of the media. They can be so harsh. I read a story about her being in the "NUTHOUSE" as if this condition is for wacky people. I pray that she finds this program (maybe Lucinda has some pull and can get it to her) lol and she can come here for support and understanding. All the doctors in the world could not of explained this disorder away. It took reading real people dealing with real issues to help me to see it for what it was.

Oh yes, I also feel sorry for her! I used to watch erverything on TV with her since "Dynasty", she´s so pretty and I always admired her.
And I totally agreee with you, it is terrible enough to fight this disorder, how must it be to live with that in the eye of public. All I knew about her recently that she was seperated from her husband who started a relationship with Denise Richards, and that the girls had been FRIENDS. My goodness, a perfect background for such a disorder to break through...
Hope she will get good help and get over this soon!

It seems that more and more famous people are being diagnosed with the vary same things we have. I'm glad for them they they are able to finally come out and seek treatment. I'm afraid that sooo many have tried to medicate themselves with drugs and or alcohol or both and some have not survived it(or have accidently O.D.'d). People like Marilynn Monroe, Elvis, Heath Ledger, Chris Farley, River Phoenix, Mary Kate Olsen (or was it Ashley?) Brittany Spears, and there are sooo many more. Feel free to add to list.

Sally Fields admitted years ago that she suffered from BiPolar. She seams to be one of the few in the entertainment field that has done well and accomplished a lot even with the bipolar condition.

Not that I would wish this on anyone either but it was nice to have a "nice girl" actress come forward with a problem like this. On the other hand don't you all wish we could afford to go to Arizona, forget everything else and just deal with this for a month! Must be nice.
