I am just starting the program and don't know where to get the motivation to keep going through another voyage to getting better. It just sounds too good to be true. I want to try. I currently take meds for anxiety/depression, they tend to make me indifferent and numb. I'm wondering if going down a little might be beneficial. Thanks for reading my rant.

Hey Tracy-
I know it seems overwhelming and difficult to just find the motivation to continue to go forward, but if it helps come on the boards daily and get a dose of whats in store for you in the sessions.People write daily on diffrent sessions and maybe that will give you a little bit of encouragement to move one step further. I do that many times, because i lack motivation myself but then i get encouraged when I come on here and see people slowly but surely feeling better and being happy. Baby steps right..What ever it takes to move one foot in front of the other. Im not sure if that helps any but just know many of us here are dealing with the same struggles and we are all willing to give that extra push when your need.Good Luck!

I think that these message boards are a great tool to use in one's recovery because there are people on here that we can not only very well relate to, but they're at different stages of recovery and can offer advice on so many levels.

I'm starting week two tomorrow. My motivation is to get better! Physically, mentally, and to be able to go out and do things and enjoy things without the fear of feeling "badly".

Another thing that I'm doing, along with trying to stay up with the positive thinking, I've been trying to eliminate the words "perfect" and "normal" from my vocabulary. Because who's to say what's perfect and what's normal? I mean, normal, say when you're getting a blood test level back for example, is a good use of the word. But to explain a person or a personality? I just don't think it fits.

Tracy, just remember that "motivation comes with the doing" If you wait for motivation, it most likely wont come, just do it. The more you work this program the better you'll feel. I think this issue with you right now is nothing but an avoidance behavior. It's unpleasant to work on this and easier to stay the way you are. Staying the way we are takes no work and we are familiar with that and it's comfortable as well, I know, been there many times myself. Take it from someone that's been in your shoes, just do the work and the results will come :):)

Hey Tracy,

I was also skeptical about the program. Will it work, how long will it take before I see results, etc...My advice will also be to give it a chance and follow the program. I am only on session #3 and have already noticed a improvement. And like other have mentioned, this forum on-line has been a fantastic outlet to chat with others that can totally relate to what you are going through. Even if you don't initiate a topic, you will always find ways to help others through you own experiences. Good luck and stick with it. Ken

I can relate to the motivation and I don't think you will find a person on this earth that hasn't had the issue. Working on things takes effort and perserverance. You can do it. I have found just not thinking so much and just doing it works for me. Just one foot in front of the other. Don't focus so much on the end product. One day at time one second if necessary. You will get to the finish line...as long as you put in the time. Noone can do the work for you. Good luck and you can so do it!!!!

It helps me so much to have people like me talking and encouraging me. Sometimes a little nudge or a swift kick is all we need. Thank you all so much!
