I got put on Beta Blockers at a young age for a heart complaint. In my teens I started getting panic attacks, or what I would call panic attacks but I am hoping someone could confirm this as the Beta Blockers killed all the physical symptoms. I mean I never got the fast heart, sweating etc. All I got was a horrible sence of total fear, and like I just wanted to run, it was all totally mental, there were no physical symptoms. Would you call this a panic attack? And did you have a similar experience on beta blockers?

If they all happened at the same time and were very intense, then i'd say yes, panic attack. But if they randomly happened and weren't extremely intense i'd say anxiety attacks.
When you were having the horrible sense of fear, it was only a matter of time before the physical symtoms would come. The strong sense of fear was anxiety, and anxiety symptoms tend to change from time to time. If you had taken care of the fears in time, you probably wouldn't have gotten the body symptoms.

You would feel it coming on, it would slowly build up to this total feeling of fear and just wanting to run somewhere, anywhere, your mind would just blank out almost as the fear was so strong, and one time I did actually faint it got so intense

Beta Blockers are a form of medicine like anti depressants. They are used to treat many things like the physical symptoms of panic attacks or in my case where used to treat an irregular heart beat. Like anti depressants they come in various brands types etc etc

Yes I was put on beta blockers for a couple of weeks because the dosage for my thyroid meds was too high and caused my heart to beat really fast. The beta blocks, BLOCKS the signals that tell your heart to speed up. I think you did in fact have a panic attack but the beta blockers stopped you from feeling that particular symptom.

I have been on beta blockers for years due to a rare heart condition. I've never thought about the connection, but I have generalized aniety, and what would probably be called anxiety attacks-the weird spacey feeling, but have never felt the racing heart during an attack.

Yes I was placed on beta blockers for panic attacks. They worked great for a person who has a balanced blood pressure. Since mine runs low the level of beta blockers I need will only do me more harm then good. So I'm hoping and praying this program will balance the rest out.
