Hey, I've been taking cipralex for 6 weeks now, I had insomnia as soon as I started taking it, which from what I understand seems to be one of the most prevalent side effects of these types of medication. I went to my doctor, and he prescribed me a sleeping aid as well. To be realistic I hate taking the cipralex and I hate taking the sleeping pill as well, but one thing I have learned is that in order to start to get better, you have to be healthy, and in order to be healthy you have to be well rested.

So with that being said, get youself help in whatever form it comes in. If you need therapy, get it. If you need counselling, get it. If you need to change your diet, see a nutritionist. If you need motivation to exercise, get a personal trainer. And if you need to get sleep, get a sleeping aid. The idea for me, and I was exactly where you were 6 weeks ago, was to get better. And getting better does not mean only one thing, it means doing everything you can do.

Good luck. Phil

I too am having bad insomnia. I have been awake til 4 am the last five nights and have to get up during the day with a baby. I'm currently on Ambien CR which used to work well for me. I've tried Xanax, Lunesta and Restoril. I have a call in to my doctor right now. I usually spend the awake hours reading or reading Bible studies on the computer. At least I'm getting something good done. I've used the relaxation tape a little. Call your doc and ask for a mild sleep med if you feel comfortable taking one. There's no since staying awake if you don't have to. I'm worried it will catch up to me and cause me to crash into depression. If you come up with any ideas, please let me know. Good luck to you. Bev
