Good Morning My Fellow Web Surfers,
I have a bit of a strange question and figured I would start here.
While I have posted about anxiety and my two recent problems are with Chest Pain (that may also be from Costochondritis) as well as a sensation in my throat (that likely came from a co-worker who had bypass surgery and spoke of his symptoms) I have been getting this tingling sensation at the tip of my tongue.
I am not sure how often it has happend, but enough that I am posting here.
I am sure a couple of wks ago I burned my tongue on some hot noodle thing my wife made me, but assume this should have gone away by now.
So, I am curious as to if anyone else has this and if it is just another anxiety symptom? I don't want to think of it as anything else, but, of course it leads to some anxiety. (Go Figure).
Anyway, I am on my 7th or 8th day without a Xanax, though I did not take them regularly, I have been doing well. Though I keep thinking I should take one to try and get all my symptoms to go away.
Anway, that is off topic, just wondering about this tongue thing. I don't think I could have burnt my tongue on anything else recently.
Thanks

You are doing fabulous in regards to the Xanax...I have always taken them regularly and I'm trying to get use to my body with out them. I haven't gone more than 30 hours without one...........But I don't go more than .25 mg per day. Thats down from 2 mgs per day. When I first begun to read your posting my first thought was "He burnt his tongue"....Remember we all heal at different rates....and remember eating something remotely warm after the initial burn will reaggreviate the tongue again. Its like have a bruised leg and you keep falling on it...it will take longer to heal. The tongue is your biggest antibody killer. It kill all the germs from food...from the saliva gland. Remember what happened to your co-worker has nothing to do with you. Not the same DNA, nor blood type...nor eating habits. You are your own individual. If hearing other peoples illnesses is a trigger for you then you have to politely dismiss yourself. You don't need the added panic until you can detach yourself from that and not connect yourself to another persons symptons. You are strong and healthy!!!

Thanks Believer08! Figured it is from the food thing, but, just werid, it does come and go. So, I assume it is from the food being burnt, etc.
I know, I need to stop thinking everything that happens to someone will happen to me, I'll be damned that has happened all my life, just worse the last 4 months or so as I went through the major part of my anxiety.
Hard to ride the ambulance sometimes when you have to deal with peoples issues. Can make it hard to watch someone having a real heart attack. Through it all I have had to deal with patients who have chest pain, shortness of breath, and even have done CPR at least once.
It is not always easy. The one thing that has been handy for me with anxiety and acid reflux has been learning what some medications do and sounding intelligent. When I was younger I was good with the meds people took, but as my own career in telecommunications flurished, I could not remember everything for everything I did, so the meds slipped. Been nice to know what certain meds do, even if it is because I am on some of them.

Hey Engine! Yep - as I mentioned in another post, oral symptoms seem to be 'my thing'. My tongue goes numb or 'fuzzy'. I understand it is because of our throat constricting and it is anxiety related for us. It's just a good warning sign for us to calm down. I called the Stress Centre when I first started the program and asked about that symtom because I too thought it wsas odd.
When I burn my tongue, it will stick around longer, but primarily, it is the anxiety.
Way to go on the Xanax! Good for you!

Imagine when you accidentally bite your tongue and or your inner cheek.....WOW what pain...and then it goes through a million stages to heal...and then we think,,,,'Oh no its Oral Cancer"...because it took so long to heal. Then certain spices reaggrevate it. Then when can't recall how we achieved it...lol..Remember moisture is always in the mouth thanks to our wonderful saliva..

It does take things much longer to heal in the mouth...that when we have to sit back and laugh...Heres a funny one for you. I had a pani attack on Friday evening...guess from what? A muscle twitch on the side of my temple....I have had them on my eye, lip and eyebrow but never my temple oh I swore I was developing a blood clot in my head....when it was just anxiety from having a horrible teenage neighbor who has real issues. I didn't take a Xanax I worked it through...Iam so proud of you for taking control of your emotions...You are stopping your thoughts before they spread down to your emotions/physical aspects..Good Job!!!

Believer, thanks for the story. I hate to laugh at your story, but I'll be darned if I don't that exact same thing.
One day I got a twitch in my chest near my peck (sp) muscle. Then I swear it moved to my neck, then the back of my neck and up into my head. I was sure I was going to check out!
The mind games we play are horrible. Even living with the same exact (for the most part) pains I still can occasionally get worked up. It is horrible. Like recently I have it in my clavicle region but only during certain activities. I walked for 30 minutes the other day while in Tx on business and felt great, today walked up 4 flights of stairs with my 15lb laptop bag and felt it in my clavicle region. (I think I better work up to the 4 flight of stairs).

I had just put up a post about my concern with a "coated tongue." It could have been that way for quite some time, but I just noticed it. My tongue has kind of a brownish/white coating on it (on top) and of course now that I've noticed it (and that my husband doesn't have it), I'm obsessed about it. Is it anything serious? I take heart medication for my atrial fibrillation and my stomach is constantly nauseous (although I don't throw up) and I have a lot of allergy "junk." Please tell me this is not something serious. I have to have a major heart procedure in a few weeks and I can't take anything else right now.

Oh to be me again.....
It could be a med that you are taking. I get that way sometimes because the meds have fought off all the good bacteria in your mouth. My daughter got that way after taking amoxicillin. You can get friendly bacteria pills from a health store. It is nothing serious and sometimes mouth wash can do the same thing I know that listerine has made mine do that in the past. It is ok but you might want to call your doctor and tell him of it so that he if needed can lower your meds or give you something else. It will be okay! I have been there before and I am still alive and eventually it went away on its own. But I suggest calling your doctor because it might be too strong or be fighting off to much bacteria or something to that effect! May you be blessed with no anxiety or panic!

Oh to be me again,
Jennifer is right about the friendly bacteria...
You may just have a yeast infection in your mouth (called thrush). Most often it's the result of antibiotics "killing" the natural flora in your mouth. No biggie though. Unsweetened yogurt has been known to help regrow the normal flora. Otherwise, an oral antifungal medication can be prescribed by your doctor. But talk to your doctor just in case. It could be nothing at all...
