Has anyone had any experiences with peri-menopause and anxiety. About 6 or so years ago I was ahving what I came to know as severe anxiety attacks. As always the universe provides, and one day as I opened Cooking Light magazine there was an ad for StressCenter. Immediately I ordered the program. Those tapes got worn out from listening so much. Anyway, I was able to overcome my anxiety and if and when an attack would come I was able to handle it. Fast forward--to 2008. Lots of life changes and the advent of new and severe panic attacks. My doctor also suggested that I am beginning menopause which will "amp" up the symptoms of anxiety.
So after this long story, does anyone else have information, experiences with this? Help!

I'm only 38, but swear it's happening to me. I have my exam next month and will ask about it. Maybe I just became very sweaty all of a sudden and have hot flashes from the anxiety. Who knows?? I'll let you know what I found out. I have read about it on webmd.com and about.com if that helps. Good luck!

I absolutely had the symptoms you are describing. I have always had anxiety, but several months ago, wow, it hit hard. I was having panic attacks, anxiety, insomnia. I went to my doctor, he told me this was perimenopause. I did not want to start HRT, I'm only 45, so he suggested that I drink pomegranite juice every morning and use flax seed. It took several weeks, but the anxiety, panic and insomnia, hot flashes and night sweats subsided to the point I was able to deal with it better, this program is helping the most
Good Luck.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I am 47, but have been reading that peri-m symptoms can begin early and continue for a LONG time. Just bought Christiane Northrup's Menopause book. It is an excellent resource. Keep the info coming.

Mine came on severely with change of life issues. I had panic attacks in high school but this was panic from hell. I'm into natural healing and have been for over 25 years, and there has been many things I've done to accomplish balance during this roller coaster ride. For one thing, my progesterone level was about non-existant, which causes anxiety and panic. Progesterone relaxes us. I'm on a bio-idential progesterone cream now and it's really helping. I do a 2% just after my period ends, moving up to a 5% then later onto a 10%. Seems to have taken a huge edge off the anxiety being a lot of it charge up prior to periods, which I still have monthly but they are very light. I did use a natural progesterone cream which did help, but as I've advanced through this I've needed a stronger cream. Also I've used various herbals that are very helpful - but also have been concentrating on taking this which promote hormone balance. I have my arsenal of homeopathic remedies that help too and have used Bach Flower remedies as well. Plus I've been diligent with the program and also am very spiritual - so have been studying in that realm as well and have several CD sets on Fear and overcoming it with the Word. All of the above have pulled me out of the pits of hell - literally. Of which I thought I'd never return to normal because I had developed full blown agoraphobia of the worst kind and was about house bound and couldn't even drive. That was two years ago, and by God's grace He's directed me out of the hole I was in. I'm not back 100% but I'm getting close, and I thank God everyday for Lucinda's program and her willingness to help others become 'overcomers.' Peace to all

I used a natural transdermal progesterone cream compounded by my pharmacist for two weeks every month and it was a God send for the anxiety I was having at the time. I used to tell my Dr. it was better than valium. I started this when I was 38 due to a doctor telling me that I was estrogen dominant and it worked really well. I didn't have any heat flashes though till way later - just horrible anxiety for two weeks every month. Now it's all over with Yay!

My doc put me on estrogen (topical) for help with menstrual migraines. I'm 38 and having HOT HOT flashes. I bought an over the counter estrogen tablet. Think I need to go more the progesterone route? I see my doc for 6 month check up on the 20th but didn't want to wait that long.

Mine started at 39. Hit me like a ton of bricks, I had no clue what was happening to me. Scared me thats for sure. I felt so much anxiety and panic that "something" was going to happen. My doctor switched me to a "monophasic" birth control pill to keep my hormone levels more even through out the month. It works for me right now along with doing the program here and mainly staying positive and in the moment.
