OKay...so I have been doing great for the past few months!!! Got a great new job..have been doing "normal things" again...got a puppy, its just been good.
Until
Last week....Went to the ob gyn and he put me on birth control. THIs was thursday...He put me on birth control 3 times a day because I needed to stop my menstrual cycle asap because of some polpys I developed. WELL>> let me tell you...ever since I starteed all these hormones I have been a nervous anxious wreck. I cant even seem to do any of the 6 steps..I cant ever relax for 5 min! I was in meijer yesterday and had probably the worst panic attack since I first started on this program back in sept. I feel like my mind is out of control, and I cant turn the anxiety power off.
Its TERRIBLE. I was so happy about how good I was doing and how things were finally starting to lighten up in my life.
Have any of you other ladies felt this way while taking BC??? Please let me know that im not alone!! :-( :(

Wow, I feel for you. My doctor put me on birthcontrol 7 months ago (at 38!!!) for some acne issues I was having. She said it would help me with my mood swings as well. I am on the lowest dose possible because of my age, but I would imagine that 3 times a day is a bit much for anyone's system to handle. Now that I think back on things, I do seem to notice that the anxiety became more evident then. I just thought I was having a bad year. Hmm might be worth investigating.

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I was there myself. I was on BC for 8 years... suffered panic attacks the same amount of time...hmmm! I also had anxiety and a tad bit of depression (always crying). I seriously believe hormonal BC can give you anxiety. Research it. Doctors will brush it off or prescribe you anti-anxiety medication on top of it as well. Going off them was rough at first having my body adjust. But I am OK now :)

Your situation may different as you probably need this for the polyps. If you have to stay on the pill, you should make sure you are taking vitamins/supplements. Hormonal BC depletes your body of these and the lack of those vital nutrients could also be causing your anxiety. Even though I'm off the pill, I'm still taking the same stuff... a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, B-complex, Vitamin C, and Omega-3. Magnesium, B-complex, and Omega-3's are great for anxiety.

I site that helped me out a lot was http://www.aphroditewomenshealth.com/fo ... &page=1. Check out the contraception board and do a search on anxiety.

To me, the pill is evil! If you don't have to be on it, you shouldn't. I really feel we shouldn't be messing around with our hormones. FEEL BETTER and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you both very much for your thoughts. Yeah I get that uncontrollable crying myself. Its like I look outside and see it snowing and I want to cry! haha...its bad. I have only been on the BC for 5 days now...but 5 x's the three times is really like 15days of being on it. I really hope it doesnt take too long for my body to get rid of it. I would rather deal with the pains of polyps than dealing with this overwelming feeling!
I will definetly check out that website Jennifer!
THANK YOU!

This is really interesting for me personally because I have been on BC for about 4 years (my anxiety started 5 years ago), but have been on it continuously (so I get a period every 4 months instead of each one) for the past 2 years, which have been the worst anxiety wise for me. My doc put me on it because my periods were so stress-inducing, but I am now wondering if the anxiety I face while on the pill is worse than it would be if I wasn't.
Thanks for giving me something to think about :)

I was on Yaz which really made my anxiety out of control. I am starting week to for a new pill, i have some anxiety and a little bit of nervous feelings. I never really thought anything of the fact it could be BC , but if you read the side affects it does list this and depression so it may be the case , and if your taking it 3x a day, i can only imagine what that is doing. Any alternative medicines for this problem your having?

I was also on the Yaz pill to reduce my anxiety during my period and it made my anxiety WORSE ALL THE TIME. I felt severely depressed, nervous, and sick all the time. I took it for 3 months (I had been on other BC pills for 12 years, and had anxiety the whole time too???) and took myself off it.

Sorry ladies, but YAZ has gotten a lot of bad reviews for not helping, but elevating, pms.

I can't take birth control. I've tried different kinds and every time I go NUTTY! When I was first on the pill, ortho-tricyclen, I was fine...but nothing since then have i been able to take without it creating horrible anxiety.

I hope you find an answer to your problem, because if you do...I would love to know.
