I DID follow thru and went to get my physical exam this a.m. Believe me it wasn't easy and I was ready to just 'not show up'
After waiting for a half and hour, they finally call my name; I didn't look up, & the nurse says' don't you want to come in? If she only know deep inside I really didn't want to!!
I felt like I was going to the guillotine!
I get in the exam room and my heart is pounding.
I told her I was nervous and that she will prob
find my BP high- & it was!! she was so nice and
we started to talk & I took my mind off the Blood pressure. The second time she took it was
much better. She said why are you so nervous?

The office I was in had a banner for one of the
anxiety meds out on the market and it had a map of the symptoms and the body symptoms that went along with it.
The Doctor comes into the room and she is so super nice. I told her about my anxiety problem
and about the program. She said that is was wonderful that I was doing it. She also mentioned that the medical center has anxiety
therapists that can help & she gave me their number.
The rest of the exam went well and I calmed down
significantly :)
I had an EKG, and blood work along with urinalysis.
When I finally go to my car I screamed "I DID IT"!!!!!!! :D I feel proud of myself because it
took a lot of courage to do and I didn't back out, and followed thru on it.
I faced my fear, and felt the anxiety but still
DID it!!!!!!!!!

HOORAY FOR YOU!! I hope that you pat yourself on the back all day long. Reward yourself. You deserve it! Congratulations! Remember: A victory is not the absence of anxiety. It's what you do through it that is important. You had a victory!

Deb!

WONDERFUL! That is so great. Man, I was nervous right there with you reading your post, but when you got to the end when you got in your car and you screamed "I DID IT!!" I got the biggest smile on my face. I know exactly how that moment feels. It feels so good.

Recently I had to find a new job. This makes me incredibly nervous, because I was terrified of having the interviews. Well, I went to 3 and each time I was terrified, thinking that I wasn't going to be able to go. I went to each one, and they got easier and easier. At the last one I was offered the job and I thought, holy crap, I actually did it. I walked out to my car afterwards and I laughed and did a little victory dance! It's this amazing moment where you're like, wow okay I can actually conquer the things I fear without them killing me. THAT is such a great feeling and it's the reason why I keep pushing through my anxiety.

Good for you for going. Never let anybody belittle your accomplishments, we are all afraid of different things and while it may be easy for some to go to the doctor, it isn't for you, but you did it and that's all that matters.

Debdeb,

Congratulations! I think all of us here can understand how much courage it took for you to do this! You are an inspiration and maybe now I will begin to drive a short stretch of the highway which I am terrified of!!!

Hugs
