So yesterday morning when I woke up I noticed that I was itching and didn't really pay that much attention to it. Well last night I was laying on the floor watching TV and I was itching like crazy and went into the bathroom only to find myself covered in what I believe is hives. I have no valid reason for them and I am terrified! I am afraid that my throat is going to swell closed and my boyfriend is no help! He keeps asking me if I am going to go to the hospital and is yelling at me and told me that I am more work and make him more tired to be around then if he goes to work all day! I am bawling my eyes out right now and I am so scared. I feel like crap and I dunno what to do! I owe so much money in doctors bills the last thing I want to do is add to them. Please help me

Back in July I got a really bad case of hives. I was in Miami on vacation visiting family, taking a break from planning a wedding that I had no help in. I have a lot of anxiety so it followed me there. I was worried about the wedding coming up in a few weeks and also staying with my in-laws down in florida. I broke out really bad all over and my face swelled till I couldn't even smile. The in-laws just thought it was my nerves and didnt really seemed concerned with me being so uncomfortable. I was down there for 5 days and let me tell you it didn't get better it got worse. I would probably go to the doctor, I have the same problem with having a lot of unpaid bills. They gave me a shot and said that is the worse case of hives I have ever seen. My hives looked like they had blisters in the middle of them. It started helpin the next day.

This happened to my husband a couple of times after Taekwondo training. I ended up buying him an antihistamine at the drug store and keep it handy in his Taekwondo bag.
It is probably just an allergic reaction and the anxiety exacerbates the symptoms.

Having the hives can be miserable. Shifrah is right. Probably nothing to worry about. If you were having an anaphylactic reaction, you would know by now. Have you used any new soap, detergent, creme, new meds? If so stop it and see if it improves. Also, sometimes people get hives and the cause is never identified. Try some benedryl or some other antihistamine. Your pharmacist can recommend something. You also might try some steroid cream such as cortaid. If it gets worse or doesn't improve you might need a prescription steroids. Good luck.

I'm not a doctor, but what the other posters have written sounds right to me. I've had hives and it was an alergic reaction - I survived. I agree that you may want to review anything new in your life - soaps, food etc. Benedryl worked for me. I know you mentioned medical bills, but a doctor can do a range of allergy tests if you want to be sure. I also agree that anxiety can make the experience feel worse than maybe it is.
I hope you feel better.

Ethans mommy, are you taking any antibiotics? If so, it could be a reaction to them. I had that happen just like you explained. I forgot I was taking antibiotics and went to urgent care. What I thought was that the new parakeets that I had just inherited had mites and the mites were attacking me. LOL....turns out it was the clyndamyacin.

Thank you all for your replys! I went into the Urgent Care this morning after waiting it out for 3 days and that was a big challenge for me! I was ready to head to the ER twice but I didn't! I went to find out that it MIGHT be a virus or just the hives for an unknown reason! What help that did! I am still a lil scared and worried that I am internally sick but I am going to try and think positive! Thank you all for all your help!
