Lucinda is absolutely right that stress and worry cause physical problems. I've allowed the negative thinking misery to have me the last few weeks, ignoring the signals, the increasing physical symptoms of shortness of breath, muscle tension, panicky feelings, heart palpitations, bewilderment, obsessive scary thoughts - letting my diet and exercise habits slide, experiencing a month-long sore throat, and now I have a case of shingles on my face and neck and around my eye. Most commonly it is old people and immunocompromosed that get shingles. I believe that the stress, fear, and worry have lowered my immune system.

so easy to let you thought life take over and send us into worry and stress. then come the physical symtoms.i was just going thru similar. i started saying my posite thoughts even though i didn't feel it. it's really like planting a seed and then watching it grow. good thought in, then soon healing.first a little bit, then more, then more... take care :)

Oh, yes the stress certainly causes symptoms! You know, I really didn't buy that until this year. I got mono then an ovarian cyst then... just like you.... shingles! And I am 41! And, I relapsed with mono, too! So, this year has taught me that my body and immune system have had enough.

One good thing about getting so sick this year... I am having a much easier time telling people, "No, I simply cannot do that" Was supposed to travel this year for Christmas but told my family, "Sorry, just recovering from a serious illness and cannot risk relapse right now" (It's a 5 hour trip and travel is tough for me) So, this year, I'm going to take care of myself and NOT feel guilty about it!

My shingles was on my side... and it hurt... can't imagine how it would feel on face and neck. Hope it clears soon and you have a Merry Christmas!

Agree completely.

I had shingles about 10 years ago. I agree completely that stress causes the immune system to slow down causing things that may not happen normally. You are right. Shingles are PAINFUL. I had them across my back. When it started to scab, it looked like a tire skidded across my back. It felt like it too.
