I have had it with the Ativan. So, I am not going to take it any more. I quit yesterday, and I haven't been taking it very long. Only two weeks, and .5mg two times a day. Sometimes, I would take a whole pill, sometimes, just .25mg, but about every 4-6 hours. I hate the way it makes me feel, and I feel worse with it. I don't think that I will have any withdrawl problems, on such a short run, 2 weeks, and at such a low dose. Any input? What would I be looking for? I have had two panic attacks this morning, but I can tough them out... If anyone would know, you guys would! Any input is appreciated. God Bless.

Ativan withdrawal can feel like a continuous panic attack on steroids. It your panic symptoms continue it is better to wean off of the drug, cutting back a little every few days until off. I hope it goes well for you. Bless you.

I was on the same dosage as you, on Lorazepam and once the program started to provide me with the skills to control my panic attack..I talked to my doctor about not taking Lorazepam and he has me just taking one, when I need it, now. I do not need them often but, every so often a panic attack shows up out of nowhere and I need it. You should speak with your doctor or Pharmacist about the Lorazepam..if you do not feel better on it...maybe you need a higher dose or change to a different kind...do not just stop taking it...especially if you are experiencing such panic attacks.

I took ativan for years, and thought it was wonderful, because I knew it would stop a panic attack in about 15 minutes, but had to stop ativan because it started bothering my stomach. I now take xanax, and don't really like it because it does not work as well, but do not feel like I can do this without med at this point. Like the others said, don't stop med cold turkey, ween off of it gradually even though you've only taken it awhile. Hope you feel better soon

I can relate. I don't think I've ever taken Ativan, but I had that problem with Xanax. It worked for the first few days but then it just made me feel like I was up and down too much. If you can do it. . .learning to count on your redirecting thoughts, deep breathing. . . exercise, good diet. . .that will be the long term fix.

I'm glad that these meds help some people but for me they make it worse.
