I just started taking a yoga class on my lunch hour every Monday. I really love it. I love that I'm working my muscles and that it's a real workout. I love that we do things that get us in touch with our body, mind and spirit. And the instructor seems so serene and neat that it's an inspiration to see her. After the very first session when we finished up with progressive relaxation, I actually teared up! I mentioned it to a co-worker who goes to the class regularly and she said that it has happened to her a few times too and that it was great that I could release those emotions so early in taking yoga. I didn't tell her that it was because I was sooooooo stressed out! LOL! So, today I went to the library and got 3 DVD's on various types of yoga. One is nighttime yoga to help you relax before bedtime. I'm looking forward to trying it. I even bought a CD at Walmart that has soothing music and waves crashing. So, I'm in get relaxed mode!! :)

Hi music fan, yes I do yoga although not as regularly as I should. I've taken a class but also have a collection of DVDs that range from 20 min to an hour. I find the focus on breathing helps me most. One of the first tapes I did a few years back is where I first heard the concept of how breathing incorreclty (meaning too shallow or high in the chest) can lead to or worsen anxious feelings. The flexibilty and suppleness that comes with regular practice is great. You can get a really good workout from it but I like that each session ends usually ends by progressively winding down and ultimately turning inward and calming the mind. I'm also trying to get into meditation as a compliment to yoga. Good luck!
