My girl friend suffers from sever anxiety and depression. She was just hospitalized do to the medication the doctors put her on and I really felt she finally hit rock bottom. I have battled anxiety and depression since 1995 and for the most part have it under control, but I figured it would help me as well. I cannot seem to get her motivated to do it on her own but we watch the sessions as much as possible. We are up to session 2 and since then she has been able to control her panic attacks using the six steps and has almost completely cut out using Zanex to control them. I have let her know that that was a huge step and she didnt even relize that she used the steps to do it. The problem I am having is that she fights me about going on with the program as perscribed because she is still experiencing her anxiety and depression. I explained that it wasnt a quick fix but in a couple of months she would slowly see the difference. I have backed off her hoping she would decide to do it on her own but she still remain lifeless on the couch saying she is just unable to bring herself to do it, she wants to but just cant get the desire to get off the couch "its just to much work". I tried to get her to use the support group to let her see there were people just starting out in the same boat and feeling the same and there were people on here that could help. Any Ideas?
