A guy at work just lost a son and we were all notified but not how he died.

I don't even really know the guy but I was curious. So, I googled his son's name and found out it was a drug overdose. Then I even ended up on his Xanga page and a Myspace page of a friend and read some stuff on there. This guy really had some problems. It made me feel like I was really violating privacy by reading it but I couldn't stop once I found it.

Sort of unsettling. I wonder why I do this to myself.

I had a similar reaction when Lucinda's husband passed away. I was curious what happened. And really it's none of my busines and it doesn't matter. They have both lost someone they loved and need our prayers. . .end of story.

I think I need to try not to do that next time!

Yep It is human nature to be curious but up to you to leave it be or find things out. Don't beat yourself up we have all done it. Let me tell you, when my ex and I broke up I still knew his password for his voice mail and used to check it and it always made me feel worse! Why would I do this to myself??! Well, NOW I wont even look on his myspace. I don't even have the urge to now. I know it'd just make me feel about a billion times worse and ruin my days so I'd rather leave it be and not know anything. That is how I am NOW. But back than, I was not. I guess now I am looking out for me now. I don't need to hear information that will just upset me. I stopped WEBMD'ing my body symptoms because basically all you'd wait for was the big word <span class="ev_code_RED">CANCER</span> to appear and than that was it. . I know I don't have it so why upset myself. But seriously, I think I can safely say that most of us have carried on our curiosities and maybe even learned afterwards its not so much a good idea all the time. I think you figured that out though

I agree that it is part of human nature, though I know how you feel. A small plane crashed five minutes down the street from where I live yesterday killing the pilot and a man and his wife. The pilot volunteered his time to fly the man, who had cancer, to a doctor's appointment in Boston.
I found myself going to the scene this evening because I needed some groceries (if crashed in the parking lot of a grocery store). I did find myself looking around to see if there was still a hint of the crash. I felt guilty about this, but then stopped to think about it. I realized that I was probably curious because it is hard for me to believe it really happened. You hear about things on the news or from friends, but they never feel real because you haven't personally experienced it. I think we seek out info or want to see it as a way to experience what is going on.
It's okay. Really.
