Hi Leslie. I just wanted 2 give U a (((Leslie))) hug. My advice is don't give up trying and seek wise counsel, read about the condition, but don't feel that it must define you for the rest of your life. One of the biggest things I've learned about mental illness throughout my lifetime (my mother, myself, my sister & my daughter all suffer with different forms of it) is that it need not be a permanent condition. Some of us will partially "give up" and grow worse, and some of us will forge on trying to "make sense" of these things and why they are a part of our lives. Personally, I believe that much of it is from things that happened to us and conditions we've lived in, combined with being ultra-sensitive souls. But we can learn & grow & improve & cope & overcome etc. Best hopes 2 U. :)
