Hello Everyone, I'm new. Just got started with the relaxation tape. It did not work for me, in fact, it made me anxious!

It might not have worked for you because you may have had some pre-concieved thoughts about what it would do or how it would work and then the anxiety kind of jumps in!
Don't worry - just keep trying. Put the CD on when you're doing something else, like getting ready in the morning and get used to it. Focus on what Lucinda is saying, not on your body symptoms and if it still doesn't work, just do something that you find relaxing - deep breathing, muscle awareness, etc.
I like the CD, but can't 'do' the muscle part - I just listen to it and stay aware of those parts of my body, otherwise, I start to get a bit tense. So - just do what works for you, but don't skip the relaxation step!!! I know it seems like you can do without it, and I tried that my first time through the program, but you DO need it and you do need to learn to relax.

It's hard for me to sit through the first part of the relaxation tape now. I think it would be nice if Lucinda had made a few different ones. I think I am getting bored with hearing the same one but I will continue to do it because I like the part of getting to the waterfall.

That's funny Mary I like the first part and find the waterfall part hard, lol
HSpirited, I sometimes feel more anxious too when I do it. But sometimes it helps me relax and even go to sleep. I guess it depends on the level of anxiety you are feeling that day.

HSpirited -If you have a lot of anxiety and need to move around alot you might find it hard to stay still for this long. It takes practice but I wouldn't give up on it.

i am sorry that it hasn't seemed to work. it may take a little time for you to notice the difference.
as stated above, it can take a little getting used to. that's alright--little by little--it'll be worth it.
