hey everyone

i noticed after a post on here that i am soooo bad for clenching my jaw and to try and stop is so hard lol i went to my dentist today and he pressed on my temples and it didnt really hurt where he pushed but my jaw ACHES at the back like hell. he is making me a gum shield.. although he didnt tell me why or when to use it :?

i just wondered if you have experienced any of the following, or if they could be down to jaw clenching..

acheing at the back of the mouth where the jaw is attached?
spaciness/funny pressure behind the eyes that can make them go a bit weird and cross eyed?
pressure on the nose.. especially when singing!! i cant sing anymore which makes me so sad because i love it and find it cheers me up loads lol

any advice?? thanks :)

Hi.

I was told by my Dr that it's anxiety-related. I somehow manage to clench my jaws when I'm asleep, and when I wake up the next day, I have no desire to chew or eat because my jaw is so sore. Sometimes I even do it during the day without realizing it. It's so annoying!!! I think it's great that you were able to talk to your dentist about it, and you may also wish to speak to your GP about it, too.

xoxo

I have TMJD
And Yes, a lot of the symptoms are due to Anxiety and Stress. My TMJD always became worse
in times of great turmoil and havoc.
But also if your joint is damaged the constant
stress put on your jaw can cause painful symptoms too.

That is where I store all of my tension. MY neck
head shoulders and jaw get so tight and when I am really stressing out I give myself a tension
headache.
Wear your mouthguard -usually while you are sleeping is when the tension & clenching/grinding happens but check with him if
you aren't sure when you are suppose to wear it.
