Does anyone else get an increase of muscle twitches when they are in a state of high anxiety? It's tax season and I'm beyond stressed...noticed a lot more twitches lately. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, stress free weekend!

Oh yeah. I get muscle twitches quite frequently and after initially panicking (gee, wonder why?) because I thought I had MS or something like that I deduced that it is definitely stress related for me. Common twitching zones are my eyes, thumb and sometimes my calves. Last week I found out that a relative had died and I had increased muscle twitchng right after I got the news. That really brought it home for me that mine is stress/anxiety related. I'm sure tax season would do it to me too! Hang in there. I've been drinking some relaxing teas at nighttime and also taking Melatonin to help me sleep and I feel pretty good.

Thanks for the feed back. Right now my left palm and index finger are twitching like mad, off and on, but I have also pulled a muscle in my left arm which I think is causing it...of course my typing all day long doesn't help. My eye lid and calf is also a very common place for me...along with my neck/head, which I know is tension related, as I had physical therapy on it maybe a year ago. It definitely helps to know you aren't alone. I was trying to resist those old habbits of looking up symptoms on the web ;)

When I was in college I had an eye twitch. I think everyone's eye twitches from time to time, but mine was really bugging me and doing it a lot. I called my advice nurse and told her what was going on. She asked me if I was stressed. I said, "No, I don't think so. Same as normal I think. Well, we are just starting finals and I do have a paper to write and some big exams." So we concluded that I was actually stressed. Once finals were done my eye twitch went away. I haven't had it bad like that again, but it goes to show how out of touch I was with myself. Even now, when I first started panicing (this is a new thing for me over the past few months) and having some pains because of it, i did not think about stress. My doctor and people asked me if I was stressed and I said "not really." Finally I started doing this program and I started to see things differently. Of course I'm stressed! My house is for sale in a slow market. Finances are tight and unpredictable. We are moving to a new area and I'm not sure I will like it there. Now I can proudly admit I am a big stress case! At least I am not denying it anymore.
So the fact that you know you're stressed and you know why you're stressed is good. It's not a mystery. Your body is just objecting to it and reminding you to do your relaxation sessions.
I hope you have a peaceful night!

I think any muscle or neck tension really contributes to the twitching for me. Last week my neck was really bothering me and I was having a lot of weakness in my arm and twitching in my thumb. I finally went to my chiropractor today and he couldn't believe how tight my neck was. He said it definitely contributed to the weakness and twitching that I had.

Yeah, I really have to pull back from looking up symptoms online too. The only thing that's good for is sending my anxiety into hyperdrive! However, my twitching didn't really kick in until a few years ago when I was on a high dose of antibiotics for acne. I later found out that a higher dose like that will cause muscle twitching. It's never really gone away since then, although when I'm not anxious or stressed I usually don't notice it at all. Where did I read about the antibiotic/twitching link? Online, of course!

Have a good night and a great weekend!

I am so glad you posted this! Right before I started this program I was having aches and pains all through my body and my joints kept creeking. I am only 32 so I figured what's wrong with me? I went to my doctor then I just so happened to see a doctor for work and got a full physical from him. I feel fine now and this all happened about a month ago the only thing that makes sence is that this was all in my head. The big problem is that I have a hard time trying the seperate the fact from fiction.
