DMP720, I understand what you are saying. The other day, "The Doctors" show was talking about unusual ways people have heart attacks! I turned the channel as that was the last thing I needed to hear. Just don't watch it!!

You intense title got my attention so I went and checked his website to see whats up.I found a run down of discussing the basic foundations of panic symptoms and how to treat them, completley matching the StressCenter.com teachings. No shockers nothing new or scary. Then he said there are "some" doctors who misdiagnose "certain" patients with anxiety symptoms when it could be something dangerous and he will be telling the audience what that is on his show today. Is it making me courious? Yes but it's not going to ruin my day. I WONT LET IT. Knowledge is POWER. If his show makes things worse the way its worded, I will write his show a letter and let him know how I feel but till then I am going to wait and see what's up.
I think it's all going to be okay

take care

Jill, I have come across reams of helpful advice on this website and I just love it when outside sources are recommended. I will miss Dr. Oz but thanks for the alert that it might be a good show! Have a great day! Ship

DMP I agree about the letter idea if it ends up being a bad episode that made so many miserable for nothing!! We should let Lucinda and Carolyn know about it too and let them loose on him..Then He will be sorry :p

Hi guys - I find that my days go better with the less media I pay attention to. It's not that anybody is wrong, there's some good stuff out there, I'm sure, but there's a lot of "scare" tactics and warnings and way too much "latest study" stuff for me. I mean how many times are they gonna say that coffee and alcohol and fat are good, and then bad, and then good, and then deadly? I know they aren't good *for me* because of the way I feel when I use them, I don't need a study telling me that.
I think the height of my anxiety was right around the last big election, when I was listening nearly non-stop to news and talk radio. Well, the election is over, and it although it's not how I was hoping it would turn out, I'm still alive.
However sometimes we grow in the worst of times. So maybe it's not altogether terrible to get freaked out and anxious over what the media is telling us.

Speaking of Dr.Oz...I was doing fine until one day I watched him, and they were talking about heart attacks, diabetes, etc, and I just freaked. I had to turn it. I noticed that I got so anxious and started wondering if I had symptoms of what they were speaking of. I really can't watch those shows. I know it is great knowledge but when I am a little anxious I really don't watch, but I thought I was okay to watch that day!

That's exactly what they want to do, scare people, and shock people. That's how they get their ratings. They know people are going to worry, panic, freak out, or just be curious and tune in. Unfortunately for us!
In reality you and I know there's no truth to it, how long have people been anxious and depressed, how many years, they've lived through it to tell. And they didn't die!

I watched and episode of Oprah once where melissa etheridge was on talking about chemo therapy and something about the way she described it....rreaaaallly scared the crap out of me....I was always scared of cancer obviously but it went 10 fold after that now i'm always nervous about it.
