Well I have to make a road trip in two days. I will be on the road for 10 hours and I am going to be really far away from my "safe zone". I have a terrible pain in my lower right side. Do you think it is apendix? Or most likely anxiety? It is not always there but comes and goes. I feel I am right on the edge of panic already. I have to make this trip. I just feel I am gonna end up in a hospital somewhere :(

I suggest that you go back to the program and listen to the anticipatory anxiety segment. I too suffer these situations. Having had my appendix out as a child, I can tell you that the right side pain had me doubled over. The doctor applied pressure over the appendix area and I literally jumped over in pain. Appendix pain is no simple stomach ache. I guess what I an saying is from my experience, you will know true pain per the appendix. This is not to say that there could be something physically wrong, but my anxiety can generate or increase phantom pains and then the mind takes over and you know where that leads. Every time I have a pain in my chest, even after working out, I think it is a heart attack. Listen to the relaxation tape and keep us all posted.

christine....you will be ok....I commend you for going. good for you.....thats great to step outside your comfort zone and go....You should be very proud of yourself.

I do think the pains your feeling are from the anticipatory anxiety. you might be having some gas build up from all the stress...try some over the counter gas medication see if that helps you.....I used to always think I was suffering from appendix attacks....then a nurse told me if you can lift your knee to your chest without pain you are NOT having appendix....
So I do that often. LOL

I agree with michael do you tapes and eat well and get lots of sleep before you set out on the trip and you will be ok.

Hello Christine, I think that your feelings are from some anticipatory anxiety and like dodger says, you should be proud of yourself for stepping outside your safe zone. My appendix actually burst and I can tell you that I was in so much pain that I couldnt even move without my stomach hurting and the pain never went away until it was removed. But even before it burst the pain was constant and excruciating. I hope this helps you.

Hi Christine.

Every symptom you have may not be anxiety. It is possible for real illnesses to happen. I think you should go to the hospital if you continue to have those horrible pains.
