I read that guilt and worry are control issues. How does this work in life situations? How does it look? I'd like to figure out why I'm doing this.

Well, I'm not a therapist but I'd say they're two sides of the same coin. I'd say that with guilt it's feeling like you should have had better/more control over a past event that didn't end well. And with worry, it's an attempt to control what will happen in the future. At least that's how it feels to me and I'm "guilty" of both.
