I've got so much going on....Stress at work, raising a very busy toddler, relationship on the bricks...

I've been an anxiety sufferer for many years, but have recently relapsed when i got a stomach virus about a month ago. The virus has since been treated, but now I wake up at night shaking, thinking my stomach hurts, when it doesn't hurt as bad, but like there's something there, thinking I need to throw up, but i don't. But then, all of this subsides during the day.

Does this happen to anyone else? What's going on? I've also been put back on Xanax & Buspar.

I think everyone has their "vulnerable" times of day. Mine is morning, or when I first wake up. Once I'm up and going, symptoms of anxiety are less frequent. But for some people, it's night.

I guess if you've already been on Xanax and Busbar before, then you know your body's response to those medications. Keep in mind that the combination of the two can produce different side effects than either one by itself. I only mention this because nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, and sleep problems are common side effects of both those medications.

I actually thought I was the only one that had anxiety and night and in the morning. You are not alone! I recently had a relapse with my anxiety disorder after getting a UTI. Now I have trouble sleeping and when I do I wake up wondering if something else is wrong. I am sure you will start feeling better as soon as the Buspar starts working.

If I am going to have anxiety at all it will be at night. I'm fine now, but I have had countless sleepless nights, and you know the worst part? You feel like you are the only person around awake and it is so lonely, and you get stupid thoughts like "What if I go crazy and no one is around to help me"

It absolutely sounds like when you stop worrying about everything around you and you have time just for you, mabye your thoughts get the best of you. A lot of people get anxiety at night which it sounds like that's what you're having. When you sleep, everything is quiet, your mind wonders, the commitee (thoughts) won't shut up and it causes symptoms of anxiety. That is how mine started, trembling, nausea, stomach hurting. Then you say it goes away during the day. You see? You have many things to distract your from you during the day, but not at night. So, my suggestion is to write before you go to bed, take warm sea salt baths, light candles and listen to your relaxation tape. Take care of you and it will start to feel better. Make this a nightly thing you do. Hope this helps?
