Thanks for all the GREAT contributions-- Anyone have some encouraging points as to how more restful sleep has positively affected your life, your relationships, your job...?

Thanks for your replies! More would be great. Most recently-I am near the ocean and walking on the shore as often as I can...must be something in the salt air...sleep is good. I am also listening to a lecture series by a professor of great books that have changed history...I put one ear bud in and get into my favorite sleep position, shut my eyes and I can't tell you one darn thing he's said in many nights. :) :)

I am still working on my occasional sleep problems. They started when I was very young and I'd cry or get upset thinking I'd be so miserable in the morning and keep checking the clock to see how many hours of sleep I'd get.

I do a number of things now, including not thinking about how 'miserable' I'll be (especially if I have to do something in the morning like drive somewhere).

First I take some Sleepytime tea.

I also have a supplement called "Calm Now"..it's a magnesium powder you mix into warm water.

Sometimes I'll use Bach's sleep aid which is a botanical remedy.

I always turn the clock away from me.

Sometimes I'll just get up if I'm lying there for too long to try and break the cycle.

There are times when I can't sleep at first, and other times I fall asleep quickly, but wake up at 3-5 am and can't get back to sleep. I usually treat it the same way as above.

The best thing now, is that even though I don't fall asleep 100% of the time, I do a lot more than I used to plus I don't worry about it so it doesn't bother me when I do have a challenging night.

I appreciate the tips in this thread, always good to try something new.
