Sorry to hear that your friend passed away. Making the video is an excellent way to pay tribute. Did the weather hold up today ? I hope the sun shined all day for you.

Chuck ! Way to take a hold of the reigns and choke the interviewer ! LOL Sometimes you have to do that to get their attention. Just because they control who works there and who doesn't, doesn't mean that they're right all the time. Let them know that you have what it takes and that you are who they are looking for. Just don't forget to hop into the recliner to re-juice the batteries once in a while.
It's funny you mentioned the recliner because I was just in it saying my prayers.

Thanks for the email, Man. ;)

Glad you had a good day for the burial.

My low expectations are my emotional protectors when I have an experience or it's starting to smell like an experience that is changing unfavorably and headed southward into the toilet. I don't know about you but when you're job searching in this economy and the General Sales Manager compliments your resume presentation and he wants to refer me to another branch manager and he disappears until I repeatedly email him only to learn they are not going to interview me, and conclude with the classic "Don't call us, we'll call you." That is a tease in the 8th degree, the same I got from women in my personal days of single life. With garbage like this happening, I need emotional shock absorbers.

Having faith and trust in the Lord when it comes to this job thing is minimal at best. I already feel disappointment and bitter at the companies and contacts sticking it to my emotions and the southerly physical portion of my body. If I use faith and trust in God with the job search, and I am getting the same results like before with the companies--I don't want to feel bitter and disappointed in God.

As for praying, I was going to touch on this earlier in the thread. Only God knows if and when he's going to grant a prayer. My prayer is about getting work. The next person's prayer could be about OCD. A third prayer request is getting a new car. Only He knows if an when I'll get the job, the next person overcomes OCD, and the last one gets that new auto. What's the point of prayer? If God has on his Outlook that I get the job the last week in April, I don't think my prayers are going to speed up the job obtainment sooner. When you're praying for something that involves a time frame, I doubt the prayer is going to change God's mind and move up a week earlier the wish grant.

I got your point, my dear friend, but you never "know" unless you try...Just a thought ;)

I can only begin to imagine how "frustrating" all of this has been for you and I totally sympathize with you!!!

I pray you rest well tonight my dear friend, knowing that all in God's timing, things will work out for you!!!

I am sure you will get that "break" you have been looking for very soon :) :) :)!!!

God bless you richly Charlie...Cloie

Thanks, Charlie Brown. I really needed to hear that! Good example. I put out my resume to two places yesterday. And I could do the work for either of them. And if they don't respond, fine. ;)
I have a pleasant surprise! A company that I had tried unsuccessfully to get a sales gig with earlier this year called me back just now! I kept sending my resume over and over again for the past month (because they had numerous and repeated sales job ads.) I like the industry they're in and am confident about myself doing the job well.

My wife several weeks ago encouraged me to keep applying (not just to them but to other companies I liked.) She felt they didn't keep my resume from the previous attempt. I guess that, [Correction: "please" should be "plus"] I got a callback from a different contact, resulted in me getting this opportunity.

I called them back and set up a phone interview for tomorrow. I do not know how that will be and how in the interview process after that I will go. But I am stoked now ;)! This is the SECOND company that I was refused by a few months ago by one contact, and now got another interview opportunity with a different contact. (The first company I am actually still in contention for a sales job. It's been a matter of HR getting back to the sales manager that I interviewed with. This sales manager is different from the one interviewed with in February.)

Apparently, my wife's notion about old resumes is proving true.

Gisette, I am letting you know this because if you like a company and they initially rebuff you, there's always the possibility of another shot a little later on.

Thanks, Charlie, good point! All too easy to just think "I don't want to play with them anymore because they hurt my feelings", but that doesn't serve, does it? ;)

Congratulations on the 2nd shot at that company! Good luck landing the job!

Thanks for the kudos!

Well, to be honest, if it wasn't for the lousy job market, I would not have repeatedly applied to the companies I liked. At least for a year. Yeah, some of it's sensitivity.

I haven't heard from the 1st company I spoke of. They are closed tomorrow for Good Friday. I will call them Monday afternoon. I called them three days in a row and it's been a broken record of "HR hasn't got back to me yet."

A couple of new, positive developments just occurred this afternoon. I got a call back from the original contact that left me a message this morning. She is from the 2nd company I succeeded at getting a second shot with. Let's call her Mary. When I returned her voicemail this morning, I spoke with her colleague who we'll call Ellen. Apparently Ellen didn't tell Mary that I was due an interview tomorrow. Mary was calling just now a second time. What has me slightly pumped is this company is well-known--an HR contact called me twice in one day for an initial interview? That's a pleasant switch and surprise. :)

The other unexpected pleasantry was I got an email regarding my personal business project. It was from a company that is in a sister-industry to my business'. He wants to talk. This would be an employer-employee scenario, whereas my project is my own legally-established enterprise. We shall see. ;)

Ooh! Good luck with both of those, Charlie Brown!

I'd like to get another side business going, for sure. Contracting during such a long recession is definitely getting on my nerves. :(

You know, that's exactly what I was musing this late afternoon: when it rains, it pours :). You're starting to think like me, manomusic; you poor soul :p.

Thanks for the cheers.

Well, the phone interview is tomorrow morning @ 11. (Then I'm heading over to my mother-in-law's for Good Friday.) I am a little disappointed the interviewer won't be able to see me in my army-fatigue boxers, argyle socks, and--a new addition--the jacket from a mustard yellow leisure suit  :D. Now THAT'S styling and profiling. ;)
