first, just breathe, relax... do some crossword puzzles, or math in ur head.. u need to stop reacting to it. ur fine. the chest pain will go away. stop trying to find it. if u wonder its gonna happen again. we tend to set ourselves up when it comes to anxiety. i know exactly what ur feeling. usually mind comes from gas.. indigestion/heartburn. try not to eat 3-4hrs before bed. avoid red sauces, chocolate, caffeine, which contribute to gas in my chest. it feels like one big air bubble sitting in ur chest and ur gasping for air. make urself burp. or go for walk, it helps. the shaking will eventually go away, once u tell urself ur fine.. tell urself over and over, "im fine, im ok, nothing bad is going to happen to me" repeat that at least 20times.. and control ur breathing. put ur focus else where. write ur thoughts in ur journal, read a book, watch a funny movie, or exercise.
ull be fine. once u control the pressure. ull be fine. just know, once u control one anxiety, a new one starts. but ull be fine. it just shows ur getting better.
good luck

Hi Jacob. Please know that you are not alone, I've experienced the same thing you have many, many times before and I can only imagine that others here have as well. Terrifying, yes, without a doubt. Whenever I go through these episodes my mind makes me seriously think the worst thoughts; heart attack, stroke, brain tumor and so on. Of course, thoughts like this just tend to add to the problem and, as a result, the episodes simply get worse so trying to "retrain" your brain not to think in such a way is key (although, obviously, far from the easiest thing to do when you are already in a state of panic). Honestly, it freaks me out to go through these attacks but, even so, they "do" eventually stop and you "do" get back to...normal. Actually, mine get so bad that whenever I have to go through them I am shaking so bad that others around me can physically "see" (and feel) me shaking, my body heats up as though on fire and I feel as though I have fever that has spiked through the roof; trembling like mad, sweat pouring down my face and body, gasping as though there is no air to speak of and, as odd it sounds, I will literally start undressing myself as though a means of "escape". Yep, even if there are others in the room with me, I don't care...off come the clothes, lol. As for the tightness/tension in your chest, yes, that is also a part of what I deal with so, again, you are not alone. Angela's tips above are good ones so I would definitely keep them in mind if I were you. Trying to work through a panic attack is not easy but, sure enough, it can be done and learning to relax is an important part of the process. Try to focus on something else, something that you truly enjoy and that makes you feel at ease, instead of focusing on what you are actually going through at the time of an attack. Like I said earlier, easier said than done but, eventually, after some relaxation practice, your mind will allow you to work through the attacks faster and faster and you should start to experience less of them as time goes on.

Good luck to you and all the best. Keep your chin up, there "is" brightness at the end of the tunnel and one of these days you "will" find it.
