I posted a few weeks ago about how well I am doing in the sucess section, and I am doing really well, life is good. But I worry that anxiety may come back. I've just started to get my life back in order, doing the things I enjoy etc etc, I mean I think I went through a bit of a melt down there, at 27 there I was out doing gardening, not that there is anything wrong with gardening, just not something a 27 year old should be at, and listening to newstalk radio??? :( so I have started going clubbing again and doing the things a 27 year old would do. I am just worried that it was this life style that got me into trouble in the first place. I am back on caffeine, alcohol etc and feel fine now, where as before they sent me haywire with anxiety. I don't know, I'm just a bit worried.

Any opinions appreciated.

Being 27 isn't the same for everyone... I don't think clubbing is an intrinsic part of being young. And if you are a sensitive person with a nervous system that needs more upkeep and care than many others, you need to adjust your life style to fit that. I don't think there's a problem in going out every now and then, but I would definitely stay off the coffee and alcohol. (And my favorite drink is Irish Coffee... :()

But if you get the anxiety back due to lifestyle factors, it would be very easy to adjust, no?

I agree with Arwen. I'm 24 and I don't drink, do any drugs, or go clubbing. And I'm happy. I used to do all that and I wasn't fulfilled. I'm not saying that clubbing is wrong, but don't feel that you have to do that kind of stuff just because you're 27. Do what makes you happy. If that's gardening, go for it!

I agree - do what makes you happy, not what you think you are supposed to be doing. Life's too short to try to meet expectations that aren't your own. There are no hard and fast rules to a life timetable - you get to make your own.

Take care of you!

Celeron, I don't know that anxiety leaves us completely. You need to get to a place where you are no longer afraid of it. You need to know that you can handle it if it occurs again. Life presents anxiety sometimes. We are a sensitive people and sometimes surges of adrenalin take us by surprise (altho it's always a thought that brought it on - actually, our reaction to a thought, feeling or dream).

I also do not recommend alcohol or caffeine but I do know other fellow phobics who drink once in awhile and some have their caffeine. They know what could occur but know they can handle it. Some people are more sensitive to these things than others are. It's like sugar. Some are sensitive to it and some are not. You decide.

But, know that it is possible that anxiety does not leave completely, and that's ok. It occurs less and less when we no longer worry about it, when we no longer fear it.

Keep up the good work. You've worked hard.
