These are all really great responses and i'm happy that the thread is a bit hit.

bna...I'm so glad you mentioned about the money jar. I just started it today and already i'm up to 60 cents. It also seems to help alot when you are trying to stay with a cleanse and i'd assume the same would be true with trying to break a bad habit.

Terry
the fact that you stopped a panic attack is enourmous...it takes alot of courage to do this and you should be so proud of yourself.

Sunbound
Your accomplishments are good however it seems to be more like a list. I don't feel like you're really congratulating yourself for doing them. Especially the first one where you stated the positive but then you down played it by saying you didn't work out as long or hard as you normally do. Does that last part really make you feel good? What are your expectations?

If i may make a suggestion...why not say something like...I got myself to go to the gym and i worked out and i'm proud of myself because i know any effort i put into my wellbeing is going to put me closer to being the person i'd like to become.

Swan
It can be tough to stay away from chronic complainers but they can be a really great tool when you're going through the assertiveness lesson. It might even rub on them and could change them for the better.

These are all good achievements and keep it up and you'll reap the rewards.

As for my own.
I'm doing the Master Cleanse right now and i'm not suppose to eat anything for 10 days and it can be really difficult especially when there are tv commercials about food, fast food signs and when you work at a restaurant and are constantly around food. Despite all this, I got through day 3 (today) without breaking and even despite how others told me i'm crazy and i'm really proud of myself...not only was i able to practice being assertive, I kept myself on my goal's plan. Yay me!

I just thought of some things:
Last week- Jonas Brothers concert w/ my daughter: four hours of 20,000 fans, screaming fans... LOL>>>> yes ACCOMPLISHMENT! LOL

All day at Busch Gardens w/ my daughter and my sister, had a blast, rode a roller coaster and water rides!

THIS SUNDAY! MY B'day..... get to go to the BILLS/JAGS game in jacksonville. Love my 'new' hometeam Jacksonville Jags (I live an hour away) but will never stop rooting for my REAL hometeam the BILLS! What a treat to get to see them play here on my birthday!

Hope you all have a GREAT DAY TODAY

Dear MIKE:

I think you so DO have a "positive" aura about you - PLUS, we all do luvvvvvvvvvv that new haircut of yours. ;) Seriously though, I like the way you are helping folks - your personality, as best I can tell on these boards, brings people together in a good way. You're 1 COOL CAT!!!!

Your greatest challenge isn't someone else. It's the aching i your lungs & the burning in your legs & the voice inside you that yells "CAN'T". But you don't listen. You push harder & hear the voice that whispers "CAN". An you realize that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you REALLY ARE.

!! I am so excited I signed on this morning!! I've been so busy with my new job I havent been able to get on here as much! I miss everyone of you!
This is such a great thread!
Mike once again super impressed!
Congrats on taking the steps to take care of yourself better as well. Master cleanse? Sounds very hard! But keep it up!

MY accomplishment:
Well most of you know I was freaking out about that new job...but this is my second week I made it through. I had reaaal bad anxiety EVERY day haha..but I pushed myself through it and felt soo good when I left and said to myself I DID IT!!

2. I signed up for weight watchers. Its more of a balance than my typical "diet" I would put myself on before prepping for a fitness show. THis is what I've been looking for ...a lifestyle change...not a "diet"

3. I've also been working out every morning. 30-60 min of running or biking and sometimes my boyfriend and I will make it to the gym at night to get a lil weight training :-)

Dear DMP720,

I too am a member of WEIGHT WATCHERS. My husband & I joined late JUNE 2007. 15 months later, I have lost 70LBS = 1.2LBS away fr goal (that last lbs is a doozy) & my husband has lost 167LB - NO, he didn't have surgery. We both did it w/ hard work + committment + consistency + making healthier choices, more consistently.

CONRATS again -

Again great accomplishments and i'm happy that we have some new faces in the thread and people from other threads that i've been involved in.

I appreciate your kind words lenore and 70lbs in 15 months...holy crap. That is amazing and your husband lost 167lb...thats very impressive.

Thats amazing that you were able to go out of your comfort zone and face your limitation. That is a great accomplishment.

DMP720
Thank you for your supportive words. Yes this Master Cleanse is challenging...no food...just lemonade with pure maple syrup several times a day, water and 1 tea a day.

Great accomplishments

Mike - I missed signing on yesterday, but definitely appreciate your comments. I did downplay my accomplishment of getting to the gym at all! Thanks for the great, encouraging comments.

Terry - the thing I didn't feel like doing was taking clothes out of the dryer and bringing them up 2 flights of stairs, folding and putting them away. It was not a huge task, but it is SOOOOO easy for me to let my "feelings" prohibit me from doing something. Today was a GREAT day. I didn't "feel" like going to the gym, but did and worked out hard and feel great!

Fear not - great job on getting to Kohl's.

DMP - new job? 2 weeks? Great work!! Keep it up - you can do it!

My accomplishment for today is that I made a phone call I've been avoiding! Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to talk to the person, but did leave a detailed message that I feared leaving before. I feel great about having that off my chest.

One more accomplishment - yesterday I went out to lunch and even though the food was SOOOO tasty, I stopped 1/2 way through and took the leftovers with me for another meal. I easily could have eaten it all in one sitting, but I could see how much more food was there than what a serving for me really is. It felt great to eat the healthy amount of food. :-)

Best of luck on the Master Cleanse, Mike.

GREAT thread! Here's mine...

1. I took a walk every day this week. Today was for almost 40 minutes.

2. I spent 2 hours at my kid's school having lunch with each of my boys. They LOVE that! I had a dozen other things I could have been doing...we are going on vacation in two days, but giving them the attention was more important. The packing will get done!

It seems like many people (including myself), missed out on yestaurday and thats ok...it isn't an expectation. It is a goal and so doing it once, doing it every other day, doing it once a month...isn't as important. Any effort you make is going to help make you feel better.

I'm glad that i was able to help you recognize the down play...i'm sure we all have or are about to go through this...I know i have many many many times.

You sound much more enthusiastic with your accomplishments today...how are you feeling about your acomplishments today as opposed to the other day?

I also want to mention about the food thing...Most people (Canadians & Americans) tend to over eat all the time...I'm noticing this while on the Master Cleanse. We don't need as much food as we put into our mouths. We especially don't need so much all at once. If you really think about it...children are the best teachers for this as well as other things as proper posture and their ability to have fun in any situation. Children eat more then 3 times a day, this is actually more normal than eatting 3 big meals a day as it just gives us 3 big boosts instead of consistent energy throughout the day and so stopping yourself from over eatting is a huge accomplishment...great job.

SleeplessMom

I like the 2nd accomplishment because you really told us how you felt about your accomplishment. The first one however I'd suggest putting some passion into it. Tell us how great you feel about the accomplishment, what it means to you.
