Hi,
I have been taking belly dancing lessons since last November because my doctor wanted me to get more exercise and because I was slowly becoming agoraphobic (again). My teacher invited us to perform as beginners at a private party in a few weeks. I don't know what I was thinking but I volunteered. I am absolutely terrified, but I'm determined to do it.

Congrats for putting yourself out there. No better way to overcome anxiety than to face the fear! I'm slowly learning that myself. Good luck with your performance. Let me know how it goes :)

LilMsMD,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I'm still learning to navigate.

The performance went very well. My teacher's boyfriend is also a dancer and he couldn't believe we were the beginners when he saw the video. I was absolutely terrified until we started to dance, my mind went blank, but I had practiced so much that my body took over.

Now my teacher says it'll be easier next time. NEXT time?! She has no idea what it took to do it this time. We'll see.
