Great, unusual or just plain bad gifts!

Somtimes it helps just to laugh.

Shifrah,

Do they still sell the tub handle thingy? My husband really could have used it. Last year on Mother's Day while showering for dinner, he dropped his razor, stepped on the blades and then fell and cracked 2 ribs on the side of the tub. I know it's TRAGIC! but incredibly funny now. And even funnier was that I couldn't get him out of the tub. I had to call the paramedics to haul his naked behind out! Now every time we drive by the firehouse we wave hello to the paramedics and yell something like "Hi! remember me?!"

In all seriousness, my husband is a terrific sport and can laugh right along with me! So if I could find one again I might gift it to him for Father's Day?!

New_Nana,

Check this out.

I also saw that they make them in Stainless Steel which would look so much nicer, I'll bet there are a variety at your local bed and bath store.

Just make sure you have the kind of surface it adheres to. We don't have ceramic walls in our shower so it didn't work for us.

Hi Mallory,

I didn't you know? They were big Sinatra fans, they thought you would be dancing to strangers in the night. :D

Come on, a smart girl like you should have figured that out. :D

hey New_Nana, I bet you can get one real cheap right here on this thread. Unless it has already been re-gifted or they got a strange attachment to it. :D

The fun and games continue.

Headlights! Ha ha ha ha....I wonder what they were thinking! Camping? Hiking?

Gman, I'd send it along if I hadn't recycled it!

Shifrah, Your serious...you have no clue what this gift was for. LOL :D Over the year, I have worked as a Home Care Specialist and have seen several of them. I guess, they were thinking when you get older and start to loss your balance. They are made for holding on to so you can turn the running water off and on. It may to many years before you need this hideous gift, but they do come in handy for the elderly, so they can take a shower by them self, without anyone watching them so they don't fall over in the tub. I hope this answers the questions about this gift. ;)

Have a great day...

:D

Conshy no not at the time we received it! We were truly baffled! See, we just don't watch TV much, except maybe a couple shows every now and then, and this is one of those "as seen on tv" things that are targeted for the wiser folks! Probably between episodes of Bonanza!

The silly thing too was we didn't have anything it would stick to, we have one of those enclosures that are porous.

Okay, I really feel that bathroom accessories are not good gifts... people should buy that kind of personal stuff themselves. But they make for some hilarious gifts!

I have a friend who is not great at picking gifts, and I do suspect that it's sometimes regifted. I got a perfume set from her one time that was very much an 'old lady' scent, and I have as strong feeling it was a gift to her from her mother. I sold it on E-bay and bought myself something I wanted for the money!

Poor hubby bought me a pretty diamond necklace for either my birthday or Mother's Day last year - only problem was that he gave me an almost identical necklace 3 years earlier! He refused to believe it until I showed it to him... Guess I need to use it more!

I used to be irritated at my sister who would hand us lists with specific items (mostly books) before Christmas and birthdays, and sometimes told us where to get it and at which price. I now find that I give my family specific lists of the items I want for birthdays and Christmas... but it makes me happy and they feel good about getting me something I want! :D
