Great, unusual or just plain bad gifts!

Somtimes it helps just to laugh.

I thought it'd be fun to start a thread for people to share some wonderful and weird gifts they've gotten!

I'll start: I think one of the stranger gifts I've received was last year for my b-day. It came from the MIL, and it wasn't wrapped, there was no note, card, or anything, just the object that came in a USPS envelope.

This is what it looked like:

<IMG SRC="https://ssl103.webhosting.optonline.net ... ergrip.jpg">

I had never seen anything like this before and DH and I were scratching our heads for a very long time over this. Was it a giant doll phone? What were the suction cups for? What do you DO with this thing?

Came to find out it was one of those "as seen on tv" things. A bathtub safety handle. And it stuck to absolutely nothing in the bathtub!

It's been recycled.

What are some unusual, bad, crazy or inappropriate gifts you've received?

If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.

Okay Ms. T. How about GREAT gifts! I will try and change the title.

This year for my b-day my hubby gave ma a free standing ballet barre for my work-outs. I was in shock, and emotionless I think! It was kind of embarassing because I didn't know what to say. I've been doing lots of barre work-outs lately and using the backs of our high back dining room chairs for supports, and it is so wonderful to be able to use a real ballet barre!

Gosh I haven't thought about this in years. When we got married someone gave us a padded toilet seat as a wedding gift! Very strange!

New Nana - that is hilarious! What a funny wedding present. I can imagine how the thank you note went.

Dear Ethel,

Thank you so much for your gift. I just happen to have IBS so I'll be thinking about you often. My heart has been softened as well as my seat!

Hi all,

New_Nana that is too funny. It has me rolling on the floor. You have to wonder about the givers perception, as you stare at the gift and wonder...what were they thinking?

Shifrah, around here that is called re-gifting. Too funny too. My sister was one for giving strange gifts, I always wondered where she did her shopping. She once gave me this thing that looked like something you would strap or hang a saddle on. My wife was kind, she found something useful to use it for. I think my sister would do this to see how it was supposed to be used. Hey maybe she re-gifted to me. I can also hear her laughing about this one.

I hope you all have a great day.

Yes I think it was probably something she bought "as seen on tv" you know the part where they say "wait...if you buy in the next 10 minutes we will give you an additional handle absolutely free...just pay shipping and handling."

So she figures, oh she'll just give it to me for my birthday. LOL.

I think I need to practice more graciousness...I always had a hard time at hiding my emotions!

Shifrah,

Do they still sell the tub handle thingy? My husband really could have used it. Last year on Mother's Day while showering for dinner, he dropped his razor, stepped on the blades and then fell and cracked 2 ribs on the side of the tub. I know it's TRAGIC! but incredibly funny now. And even funnier was that I couldn't get him out of the tub. I had to call the paramedics to haul his naked behind out! Now every time we drive by the firehouse we wave hello to the paramedics and yell something like "Hi! remember me?!"

In all seriousness, my husband is a terrific sport and can laugh right along with me! So if I could find one again I might gift it to him for Father's Day?!
