First, I appologize if this is not the right forum to post this. I looked down the list and I'm unsure of where I should ask this question.

I'm on week 8 of the program and I am also reading Lucinda's book From Panic to Power. In her book she suggests you write down a scary thought that you have & then write a humorous/funny response to that scary thought.

I guess I'm having trouble doing this, my biggest scary thought is losing control and or losing control and hurting someone, one of my kids, my husband, you name it. I've been trying to think of how to turn one of these thoughts into something funny but am struggling a bit.

Has anyone done this exericse before & if so I'm hoping someone else has a similar scary thought that they were able to turn funny? I'd love to hear what you came up with.

Thanks you guys. :)

You could try and use the jelly bean scenario. Imagine yourself hurting them with jelly beans...

It is all according to how you think in your mind that you might hurt them, and what with...

Use your vivid imagination to come up with something ludicrous and silly!!!!

I am sure you can come up with something totally silly!!!!

I pray this helps...God Bless

Another tip I heard about is imagining a funny, cartoonish sound going along with it. Like if you feel like punching someone, imagine their head going "BOING!" and bouncing around like it's on a spring. I've had to do this with my brother!

That was cute!

You could couple the "BOING!" with strangling someone with big puffy three-fingered Mickey Mouse gloves. The head could pop up in the air with a big spring attached to it.

You have to use your imagination to put all this together:

Well, I just came up with the Mickey Moutse gloves! Good grief came up with all the rest! We've got to all put our minds together for our own sanity, eh?

Shifrah, I am absolutely sure that if everyone of us, here on this forum, put our minds together, then, no-one would ever suffer from another panic attack...They would laugh themselves to death!!!

Thanks for the response...Love Ya Bunches....

Dear PeaceSeeker, Realize also, that you WILL NOT do the things that you are scarily thinking about.....it's your minds way of distracting yourself from the feelings that you are having. What I do is when I have a scary thought, I picture catching it in a butterfly net...gently catching it....realizing that it is just a thought.....and I tell myself just that....it's only a thought, nothing more, and I will recognize it...catch it in my butterfly net....and let it go.... I hope that helps. For me, it is a peaceful way to rid the thoughts, and they do go away. Peace to you, June
