Hi Fitz!
Im new to this program and have had a lot of the same scary thoughts too. Its taken some time but they eventually diminish in how they effect you. theres a great article by Dr. steven Phillipson called thinking the unthinkable. It talks about his experience in dealing with these thoughts that most people who experience anxiety go through. The first time I became obsessed with a scary thought was about the same time I started experiencing anxiety(didnt know what was going on) One night the thought just popped into my head and wham! I went with it. Of course your frustrated, Trust me I understand, but, you will get better and letting it go. Go to lesson ten, and try the article I recomended, its really informative for people who are really obssesed with scary thoughts. sending you energy!!!

fitz-
do you have the attacking anxiety program?
it has some very helpful advice to help you through and out of the scary obsessive thoughts.
especially on lesson 10.
if you've done it already.... pull the tapes out and listen to them again....relearn and reteach yourself.
also- there are some really, really good books out there that have step by step instructions and advice. the 2 that i prefer and helped me most are 'the ocd workbook' and 'stop obsessing', but there are a several great books out there that can help you.
there are other options as well.....
seeing a therapist or ocd specialist.
medication or homeopathic remedies.
you just have to educate yourself and figure out what works best for you.
i do know that the most important part of healing from and overcoming ocd of any kind is the cognitive behaviorial part. you really have to focus and work on that...doing what is neccessary.
like i said- you can read up on and learn about the different cognitive ways to do this, plus there's also the attacking anxiety program that's helpful too if you've got it.
you don't have to live with this fitz. you can learn to deal with the thoughts in the right way so that they no longer bother you all that much- or even at all. you can learn to not be afraid of those thoughts and to stop obsessing.
lose the fear- lose the thoughts.
you have to keep plugging away. you must be proactive in the proccess... constantly proactive.
ocd takes a lot of work to overcome. you'll have good days and bad ones. you'll have accomplishments and set backs, but as long as you practice and do everyday what you need to inorder to overcome and heal- you will not fail.
you will have peace within again.
you deserve it and it is waiting for you.
You can do it!
