You're probabbly thinking...what the heck does your internal crapper have to do with how you feel well I'll tell you in both within the context of Western & Eastern theory.
Our bodies digestive system functions to take in food and drink and convert that into energy for our bodies and removing the non-useable parts and toxins out. When it can do this on a normal level the person is healthy...However, when these wastes (toxins & non-useable parts which can actually become toxic if they stay in too long) sit in our systems, our bodies reabsorb the toxicity back in and it does this through the intestines. What does this mean? This means that the energy you are getting from your food and drink is actually getting used up quicker because your body has to work harder to rebalance itself. This is when we start to get diseases and illnesses and such...or at least one of the major times this happens.
On top of this there is also a significant ammount of Serotonin created within the intestines...You know that chemical that has been talked about within the program which makes us happy...yes thats right...it is made in the same place as your crap. I know thats alot to digest (pun intended
). So when we cannot eliminate the toxins at a decent level, the body cannot create this serotonin as much and thats just sad.
On to the Eastern theory. The Easterners look at each vital organ having it's own characteristics such as having their own flavor, color, element and symptoms when they are out of balance. They also pair up the organs into 6 pairs and they suggest that when one organ of a pair is imbalanced then so is the other one. Now I'm only going to mention the pair that is important to this topic...that would be the lung and large intestine. The lungs are in charge of acceptence of air, of words and ideas and the intestines are in charge of letting go of feces, emotions and memories. Think of it as a jar...if we have to much of something the jar gets full and it is almost impossible to put more things in without it overflowing..so the more crap we have in our jar, the less room we have for the good positive things we try to put in there. This is why i believe we have a hard time accepting other people's kind words or even our own for that matter. It doesn't just happen on this level either. Sometimes this can manifest as asthma, allergies, grief/sadness (the emotion of the lungs when it is inbalanced), shortness of breath, frequent colds/flus and a number of other things.
So what do we do?
If we do breathing exercises this can help to release our emotions. If we clean out our intestines it can allow us to release emotions and accept more positive things. It can even help to remove some of our diseases as well. Looking at it on more of a western sense...when we have the stress response it releases adrenaline which actually supresses a few systems of the body like the immune system and the digestive system. If we can use those breathing techniques and calm this response down then the downtime of your digestive system won't be as long and your digestion will increase...if your digestion increases then your body has the opportunity to create more of this awesome neurochemical, Serotonin.
There is alot more going on then this but I do not feel that getting overly technical is a good idea so I'll leave you with this. I also would like to say that i have experienced things getting better simply from working on my digestive system and using relaxation techniques...these things included; energy, sleep, mood, breathing, acceptance of myself and others...ect.
I'm actually just starting to do a detox along with this program and its still early (day 2) but i'm feeling pretty good and if anybody would like some suggestions on things you could do to help out your digestive system you're welcome to PM me.
