I have been looking for months for a job. I finally found one and I am scared. I am scared I will have a panic attack at work.

Have any of you had panic attacks actually at work? I am going to be working in a hospital. You would think that would make me feel safer but it don't.

Instead it makes me feel like if I have an attack people will fire me and label me crazy or something.

What can I do to ease my thoughts on my new job. I have had jobs before and had to quite do to my attacks. I pray that it won't happen this time.

Try to be positive and rational. Don't anticipate a panic attack. Now that you're doing this program you'll have a whoole new sense of how to deal with these types of feelings when they arise, and new tools to use to calm yourself and reassure yourself. Starting a new job I think can be a nervous experience for anyone. New people, new place, you don't feel as comfortable as in a familiar place, but once you get a little settled and meet a couple people you'll feel more at home. I would just say don't get over anxious or irrational because you're feeling a little nervous. It's normal to feel a little nervous, especially when you've been looking for a job for a while. I know what that's like. It's ok to feel a little nervous, but you can do it. Don't let your mind get the best of you. Don't get tricked by thoughts. Good Luck and congratulations on your new job
