I'm not sure if anyone has this problem, but ever since I was very little, my wrist almost always hurts when I write. I know that it probably has something to do with the amount of muscle tension that I put on my hand, but I don't know how to make it go away! Does anyone else out there have this problem? If you do, how do you relax?

If you have panic attack disorder or ocd or gad your body has been trained for a long time to be tense. The relaxation tape the accompanies the program (and used daily) will help you to train your muscles to become relaxed - to the point where you can do it "at will".

Take your wrist and deliberately tighten it. Tighten your hand and forearm and really pay attention to how tight that whole area feels. Then let it relax. Repeat this a few times a day, daily. You may find the tension is more in your forearm and not your wrist.

Use your breath work as you tighten and release.

Hi - Just wanted to chime in that I have the exact same problem, in fact, muscle tension is my worst symptom. My hand also hurts when I write, especially around the thumb. I hold my muscles so tight they tend to spasm and twitch, hence my name. :) It used to really freak me out, but since going thru the program I just float with it and don't let it get to me. My muscles probably don't tighten up as much as they used to but I know there has been some damage done. Great advice from Boon. My only advice is remind yourself why it's happening and let it go mentally. The body should follow.
