I don't know if anyone feels this way, but whenever I go to work out, my head will start to hurt and my neck muscles get tight. A lot of times if I don't already have a headache at the gym, I will by the time I get home. Could I be working myself too hard? Do I subliminally have high expectations for an invigorating workout? Please help!

Thats interesting. When I was in college, eek! the late 70's, I had a few problems with grades and went to see a counselor. After telling him I had terrible problems focusing he said I needed to exercise to clear my mind. So in my case it partially helped. However, even though the excercise did not eliminate the anxiety I felt better. Through Lucinda's program I'm finally getting some help. Maybe you are setting your expectations too high. Session 4 may help you with that. Also, see if the gym has a person that will help you set resonable goals on exercising so you can show your own improvement over time. Good luck.

Are you prone to migraines or sinus problems? When I had a lot of sinus congestion I would always get a headache after my high impact aerobic classes. Especially if it was too strenuous.

Maybe you're not holding your head properly when you work out? You could be tensing your neck or your shoulders through your workout and that could cause a headache.

music4life---I live alone in snow country. Many times after shoveling I get these attacks and they drive me crazy. why I get them i am not sure. One of the side effects from these attacks sometimes is a dry irritatin gthroat that sometimes gives quite a coughing spell and I get attacks from those. It is something ,hopefully will pass in time. What does anyone out there think about this? I will be somehwhere and will get into a coughing fit. Like today at work. I have had so much going on the past few weeks that I still on weekone. I am about ready to start week two.

monette,
I think that you and I may be having the same problem where we put too much strenuous effort on our bodies. Also you may be getting dehydrated. Try to drink plenty of water before going outside to shovel.
As far as the program goes, try to be consistent with it every week. Lucinda said at the beginning that even if you do not feel ready to move on to the next session, do so anyway. These things will take time to learn, you can't expect yourself to perfect your skills in one week! And remember that this is something that will be life-changing for you, so make time for it, this is your happiness we are talking about! Best of luck to you

I dislike the gym atmosphere as well. When I exercise I like to exercise at my own pace.
I used to get anxiety after I finished an intense workout because how I felt while I was cooling down reminded me of how I used to feel immediately before moving into a panic attack. Racing heart, hot flashes, fast breathing, ect...
I continued to exercise despite it and I'm glad I did, eventually I got used to it and I haven't had a panic attack after exercising in over half a year.
Cheers
