This is a very good site about the Word-Faith movement.
Lucinda talks a lot about magical thinking, and some of the things coming from the Word-Faith movement is very much like magical thinking.
Just something to be very aware of - please take heed.

Ah yes the old name it and claim it path. I wonder if the Martyrs of old prayed in vain then? As they were sawn in two or fed to lions? Where was their faith? Hmm I see God work in amazing ways too when I trust him with my tithe. WIthout fail He makes things happen I wouldn't have believed. Like a small bottle of shampoo lasting for months even though we use it every day! Or milk or flour doing the same ..just seemingly lasting and lasting and lasting? So that I could use good stewardship and spend wisely. Paul does instruct us to be content whether rich or poor, to have need or be in abundance. I agree. No matter where we live or what we do he wants our dependance on him and nothing more.It is really a shame if we spend foolishly and then cry to the Lord to Bail us out. I have done that so many times and I am learning responsibility in that all the time. Not everyone who is struggling is messing up. I know the Lord is imploring us to trust him and noone else. And to be good stewards of our time and money and our health.
It is a slippery slope that leads so many to guilt and shame and fear. If things don't improve I must not have given enough or had enough faith or loved enough or trusted enough. It's never enough for those preachers. Lord forgive us when we seek the easy way out, help increase our faith. Lord let us honor you with our lives so we are more and more like you.
Amen

Here is another site about it.

It is a shame about Joyce Meyer, as I like listening to her.
You just can't ignore some of the misinformation though. A lot of it is quite blasphemous what some of them believe & teach.

I have been really enjoying Joyce Meyer lately and think she has turned away from that prosperity teaching. She is now talking and preaching more about Holiness and Love and Serving the Lord. God's been really speaking to her you can tell by what shes sharing.I think it's awesome what God is doing thru her right now.

You are correct in that. I haven't seen any recent quotes from her, so there could be a change of heart.
Some of the others though, were quoted as saying that people are like little gods and can have whatever they want as long as they "believe" - to me it seems contrary to what the Bible teaches.

I am new to this site, but not new to the "name it & claim it" crowd...I grew up under Papa Hagen, Fred Price, Kenneth Copeland, to name a few...got a degree in theology from Christ For the Nations in 1978...have been taking anti-depressants for over 30 years...finally went to alcohol 10 years ago, after losing a 27 year marriage, and a ministry in the largest church in Albuquerque...Paul had a thorn in the flesh...we are never told what it was, but it doesn't matter...God used him anyway!!! I pray that I can stop self-medicating with booze, and start to live the life that my Father intended...I bought the package, and pray that through it I can be healed...Larry
