Hi.
I started the program four weeks ago and I'll tell you why. I've known for a number of years that I have high anxiety. I just never felt the need to do anything about it because after a bad attack, it would always get better and I'd feel good. This past winter, after buying a house and starting a new job, our basement flooded with raw sewage from the other houses on our street. Then two weeks later our furnace died and had to be replaced along with our hot water heater. A couple weeks after that my husband had to have surgery. I was in denial that I was stressed out. The very day after our sewage incident I started to have stomach problems unlike anything I've ever had before. It actually lasted a good two months. I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach and my throat/chest felt like it was hot and burning. I had a huge appetite, but couldn't eat because it hurt worse when I did. Doctors ran all sorts of test, including upper GI and endoscopy. My throat had a tightness to it - sometimes lasting a week at a time. Physically, they could not find anything wrong with me. The Dr. said he could stretch my esophagus to see if that eased the tightness, but he couldn't explain the tightness or why it came on so suddenly. I've been on NExium for two months and my stomach feels ok. Anyway, I got really fed up with all the uncomfortable feelings, so I went to a Healing Mass being offered at my church. I told the priest that I mostly wanted my throat situation to get better because it was really uncomfortable and I didn't know what was causing it. He said some prayers over me and blessed me with oil. I sat down in the pew and started crying - not sad tears or happy tears. I just cried. I felt so peaceful. I came home that day and started the program. I knew that the answer had to be to get control of my anxiety. MY throat tightness still comes, but it doesn't stay as long. It seems to come on when I'm thinking about work (stressful) or current home projects (also stressful). I think the power of prayer is so strong. I pray that this program is the answer to my prayers and that my symptoms will go away so I can feel good again!
