Christians
By Maya Angelou
'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
t hat a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Great post! I love M. Angelou, but I've never seen this before. Somewhere I have a very empowering poem on being a woman that she wrote. I'll see if I can find it.
Thanks againg for sharing this (my friends will be pleased, too since I plan to copy, paste, and forward it on)!

Dear Mom of 6, that was beautiful! But I have 1 problem, I have first sought out the Lord for as much as I am in my 30's and yet I am single still? What more must I do? I am happy not to have the wrong one where instead of being just lonely I'd be lonely and miserable. But what must I do, is there anything else, I guess timing in life is one of the MOST important things EVER! God Bless

David, I can't say I understand your situation, however, I can say I can only imagine how lonely one can get. But, I see in your posts, that you are a man of God and HE knows are wants and needs. I'm impressed with your statement ""I am happy not to have the wrong one" Oh how I wish I could have said that years ago.

If you read the post I entered awhile ago(Child support vs "the Law") you will begin to see just why it is soooooo important to "wait upon the Lord". Wrong relationships are PART of the reason I am here on this anxiety forum.

AS I thought about your post, A few scriptures I hold dearly came to mind and I would love to share them with you. I've shared them across this forum for a number of situations because I believe Gods word is powerful and they can be used for many(if not all) of lifes trials. I hope they speak to you as they speak to me
"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him'do not fret" Psalm 37:7
THIS ONE IS MY FAV

"These things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. I it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue A SINGLE DAY!" Habakkuk 2:3 LB
"I wait expectantly, trusting God to help, for he has promised". Psalm 130:5 LB
"I am the Lord; no one who waits for my help will be disappointed" Isaiah 49:23 GNT
"God makes EVERYTHING hppen at the right time".
Ecc 3:11 CEV
"Entrust your ways to the Lord. Trust him,and he will act on your behalf. Psalm 37:5 GWT
"But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Saviour;my God will hear me"
Micah 7:7
Keep your faith and never give up! God bless you and take care

I too hold dearly to many scripture verses Robin. Thank you for sharing yours and showing you care, esp not judging me thinking something must be wrong with me or that my standards are too high. I am in my 30's but I could have had children, or gotten married most likely if I put myself in those positions, I chose not to. Many my age are divorced or living together for their children or whatever, so I feel that I haven't lost out seeing what others have gone through. But.....yeah I'm still lonely, I'ma hangen tough and I will make it. We can't take our mates, friends, memories, children, or anything else with us when we die, where ever we end up. At least I do know this for sure, I'm on my way to Heaven some day...
