I was told that I might have an ulcer, but I'm suppose to get an Upper GI for that. Haven't so far though.

Mornin' altj,

I have ulcers caused from the h.pylori bug. I didn't know I had them until I had an awful attack that landed me in the hospital 8 years ago in April. It almost killed me, literally.
I was never put on antibotics for it cuz I refused to be forced to feel like crap and to throw up for weeks because of the treatments. I suffered with uncontrolable vomitting for several months with the onset of the attack, and there was no WAY I was going to put myself through that again. No way.
But, eight years later, I'm still alive and kickin'. I have severe stomach upset when I get super stressed out. But, I can go to any drug store and get the Prilosec they had me on when I feel that the ulcers are gonna give me problems. Which, is rare these days.
My advice is to see what the endoscopy turns up, and you have to be patient for your stomach to actually heal. That takes time, and if your stomach is "eat up" by the ulcers like mine was, that can take the better part of several months before you start feel like your old self again. But, you will get better, I swear you will. It just takes time, but it will happen.

Missy

I don' know if this will help or not, but in August I was diagnosed with thrush by my family dr. He prescribed me a nystatin swish, but my symptomes didn't go away. I was back and forth to him about 3 more times, before I'd had enough (my mouth was full of canker sores; I even went to my dentist) and was able to get into an ear, nose, and throat specialist, who told me the white coating on my tounge was NOT thrush, but acid reflux and that's why the sores wouldn't go away. That was in the beginning of November, and while it got better, my mouth hasn't started to heal until the last couple of weeks when this specialist upped my Nexium to 80 mgs.

I know exactly how you feel about anti-depressants, and even though I'm currently on 100 mgs. of Zoloft it doesn't do much for my anxiety. It seems like dr.s are more than willing to pass out anti-depressants like candy and claim that they will treat anxiety, yet they are very hesitant to prescribe a benzodiazapine (sp.). I recognize the addictive nature of these drugs, but it makes more sense to me to treat the disorder a person has- in your case, anxiety.

I'm certainly no MD, but with all the drugs I've been on (I've tried nearly every anti-depressant: welbutrin, paxil, effexor... I know there's been others, but right now I can't think of them), I can speak from experience. I can honestly say that I DO NOT suffer from depression, I have anxiety. Unfortunately, right now I'm stuck on zoloft, from what I feel was a misdiagnosis. And, yes, I am angry and frustrated.

I guess I would suggest that you get a second opinion, maybe from a specialist or psychiatrist. If you have acid-reflux, your dr. should treat this; since you suffer from anxiety, you deserve a med for anxiety.

Peace to you,
fischee

(I know the drug companies claim some of the new anti-depressants have been effective for anxiety [Cymbalta is one], I have yet to personally meet someone who agrees.) Anyone out there have success?

I too have the same problem as you do. My anxiety and nervousness causes an overproduction of acid. The best help that I have received is Protonix 40 MG which is just a timed release acid reducer. I can eat now without feeling like my body is revolting. I am also taking amino acids for help with depression and anxiety. It's a natural way to help boost your neurotransmitters without using antidepressants. All my problems started 2 years ago and they put me on xanax and then wellbutrin. Long story short, I weaned off of both (which is extremely hard!) and after 6 months of neither started getting stressed out with work and other things around me and went down hill. I am now working with an alternative doctor in Colorado and he has me on the amino acids (that your brain already naturally produces) to help boost dopamine sp? and so on.....
