Hi my name is Joy and I have mostly pure obsessions form of ocd. I suffer greatly and really would rather not be on meds. Does anyone know if this program specifically would help with this? Any info would be great.

Hi Joy,
Lucinda's program encompasses everything you need to know to heal. However, you are not healed in 15 weeks - and no one claims that you will be. The 15 weeks is to teach you what you need to do and practice, practice, practice until you are able to manage this disorder. You will notice changes as you work the program in the first 15 weeks and you will need to continue to practice what you have learned to get very good at it. The program works. There is no emphasis on any one particular topic, however. If you want emphasis on a particular thing there are several books out there that address OCD, obsessive scary thinking, pure O, as you call it. Lucinda's program also suggests many wonderful reads that will help you on your journey.

I recommend Freedom from Fear by Dr. Howard Liebgold to address your pure O.

My best to you.

Hi Boon,
Thank you I am glad I am on the right track again. I had started and stopped the program a couple of years ago and still one of my obsessions is that ocd is a severe mental disorder that you need to be "put away" for. I know this isn't true and that everyday people suffer from this. I am really feeling good this week which is week 1 again and I still ruminate with thoughts and write them down to "clear them" temporarily of course but my main goal right now is to be able to believe that I okay to be comfortable in my normal everyday life. I can function well outside of this just more of an emotional torture for my mind. I am excited to see what the future holds on my healing. Thanks for taking time to reach out on these posts! How are you doing with your journey?

There will be doubt from time to time - even as you heal, but you are able to let go of the doubt and dismiss it as rubbish just like the scary thoughts. This all comes with practice. I can tell you over and over that ocd is definitely a disorder you can heal from, that you can learn to manage but you will always question it until you prove it to yourself. So get to work. Prove to yourself that you just have ocd and it's no big deal. You can function with it beautifully and sometimes you'll notice that it isn't even there.

Boon,
I will practice and not let the "fear" of the thoughts control the life I am given. Thank you very much for reaching out to me.

Ms.T Bones,
I found your post very uplifting. I believe what you are saying 100% My family supposedly have battled these "didorders" over generations. I believe we are definetly highly suseptible to these lables and terrify ourselves into believing them. I told my Mom when that there is no physical evidence short of a brain scan that it is there. I have got one thought in my head and fed off it for years. I do not want it robbing me any longer of the life God has given me. Thanks for your neat take on ocd!

Joygirl...You are more than welcome!!! I think God gives me insight into these type of things...I really do give Him all the glory, honor, and praise!!!

Another reason I think these are "learned behaviors" is because we used to cook on a gas stove when I was growing up. I can remember my dad constantly checking the gas burners to make sure they were turned off before going to bed!!!

I know I picked up on this as a child, because I remember me checking the burners a few years after I saw Dad doing this type of thing...

I think as children we pick up many things from our parents and relatives, and we tend to keep these type of behaviors going on and on, and if we don't stop these behaviors, then, they pass on down to the next generation...

This is another reason I believe OCD is a "learned behavior"....

As I said on my earlier thread, this is my take on OCD...

Ms. T. Bones,
I do believe God gives us insights into helping his children! Yes anxiety ran in my family and I watched my Mother be so anxious growing up. Then I think I took what may have been some ocd obsessions or thoughts and dwelled on what could be the worst case scenario and letting it tell me I had no right being in a more "normal" world. I pray all the time and have a great spiritual support system otherwise it would have been way worse. Thanks agian for the insights!
