Fear of the Fear Feeling

Post by coachchris » Mon Apr 11, 2022 8:27 pm

Hey Friends, I am hearing folks struggling with fear of the fear feelings more and more. It is common to have the fight/flight/freeze response when adrenaline first strikes. Because we are in survival mode we compulsively distract/get busy/avoid/ and try to run away from the negative feelings. Many can get into this survival habit and stay stuck in it for way too long. Its all about just surviving. We obsess about how we are feeling and then we add a compulsive action to survive and so on and so on. If you are in the fear of the fear cycle go back to lesson two and review the 6 steps. Practice relaxation and your breathing. Practice relabeling body sensations and get your power back. Post-pone the compulsive action and make space to float not fight. Be proud of yourself. There is great freedom in breaking out of this cycle. Be patient. Breaking out of these bad habits takes time and courage. You will get free1 Reach out if you need help. We are here.
