Stress Center Peer Support

Hello everyone,
Are all people with OCD neat and clean? My daughter says she has OCD and has washed her hands a lot for a few years but is a slob. She leaves trash , dirty dishes and dirty diapers on the floor. She is 21 and lives at home with us (with her 2 small children). It seems that the things she avoids like emptying the trash and cleaning the bathroom are from laziness and not being afraid of germs.

Not all people with OCD are neat. Some are so obsessed with one thing being clean that they do not clean others. Some just worry in the dirt because they could never clean enough. Your daughter may be lazy, but she may have OCD or both. She should get tested.

Thanks for the reply. She refuses to get tested or get any help at all. Since she is an adult I cant make her.
